addicted again

It's not Cooking Mama for DS or Wii, it's Mario Party 8. Gino bought it for Mike for Christmas but I enjoy playing it more. I always have to ask Mike to play with me. If you have a Wii, I highly suggest buying this game, it's so much fun as a single player, and though I haven't tried it yet, I am sure that it will be an entertaining game to play with multiple players. Last night I played for 4 hours and couldn't sleep properly because I kept on having dreams of it. Scary!!!!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. It was anything exciting for me, I should have have gone away to Mexico as planned. Maybe next year!!! Hopefully next year!!! I need to make it happen next year!!! Stay tuned for some pictures from Christmas and other events surrounding it.

little miss baker

I should be at my brother's party right now but I am EXHAUSTED!!! I started off my day by going to the mall at 8:30 am. Mike was kind enough to drop me off before going to work. I shopped until noon and then I came home and made salsa for Gino's party. After I started to bake. I made Peanut Butter Balls, Whipped Chocolate Chip Shortbread, Skor Bars and Marble Cupcakes with pink and brown frosting (for Belle's birthday). I would have loved to just chill out, drink and play video games at Gino's but I also have an early day tomorrow. Mike and I are going to drop off gifts in the east end before heading to the birthday party. So, it's 9:45 pm, I am going to get ready for bed, paint my nails and then turn in. Baking is hard work!!!

good shampoo = nice hair

Ever since I moved out, I have been trying to save money on certain products. When I lived with my mom, I would always buy 1 litre bottles of professional shampoo and conditioner (Wella, Bedhead, etc.) So, since living with Mike, I have just bought drugstore products. After Mike came back from his business trip to Portland, he brought back the hotel shampoo/conditioner and guess what, they were AVEDA products. I instantly fell in love with the Rosemary Mint line. It's so fresh and invigorating when you use it first thing in the morning, it really wakes you up. It's expensive but worth it.

I also recently bought a travel size kit from my hair stylist. He uses the I.C.O.N. line. I bought the kit that has shampoo, conditioner, replenishing spray and cream for when I have to travel for work. I have some of their other products - styling foam and liquid gel. It's probably safe to say that I use these products because my hair stylist uses it on me and he also sells them at the salon and gives me a good price!

finally...shopping for me

So after Sunday's big storm and being locked in the house for almost the whole weekend, I ventured out on Monday to do some shopping for myself. When I moved in with Mike, I had to get rid of a lot of clothes since we would be sharing a closet. I went from two walk-in closets to half a closet. As it started to get cold this year, I realized that I must have thrown out all my sweaters and long sleeve tops because I have been wearing short sleeves to work each day, throwing the same all sweater on top to keep me warm. So, I bought more clothes for this winter season. I spent over $200 but I got a bunch of things - a black staple sweater, a brown sweater (but it's short sleeves), a grey turtleneck, a blue/black striped sweater dress, a cute polka dot dress shirt, plus some knee highs in black and beige, brown tights, some black socks and my favorite thing to wear this year, knee high socks in an argyle print! But wait, I also bought Mike two pairs of cashmere socks, two small gifts for my friends and two gifts for some kids. Not bad for the amount that I paid. I am so proud of my purchases.

snowed in

On Sunday, we had a big snowstorm. I would say the first of the year. From Saturday night to Sunday night, it snowed consistently. Mike and I pretty much stayed in the whole weekend. If we didn't go get our haircuts Saturday morning, we would have never left the house. It was nice to relax and do nothing but there are times during the day where you go stir crazy and want to get out. I was excited on Saturday night when Mike decided that we should go to Yorkville and shop but when Sunday came rolling along and we saw how much snow there was, we chose to stay at home. Oh, and about Friday, Dianne canceled her party last minute because she got sick. Poor girl! I know that she was really looking forward to a night out. Her birthday came and went and now we have to concentrate on the little girl's birthday this weekend. Belle turns 2 on Saturday. Time is flying, I remember the day when Dianne told me she was pregnant. It seems like only yesterday and now here we are, two years later...

last day before the holidays

Today is my last day before the holidays. I am tired from attending holiday events the past too days. Too much drinking wine. I have to try and get some work done here in the office even though I will probably do some work from home.

Tonight is Dianne's birthday at Kultura. I hope that I get to squeeze in a nap and maybe a quick visit to a walk in. My allergic reaction that I got last week had disappeared from my arms but it now all around my waist and is starting on my left cheek. When will this madness end and I can I go back living like a normally human being?

I am almost finish my Christmas shopping, just a few more presents to buy. I plan to do this earlier next week during the day and also I plan to start baking. I should enlist in Gino's help...

the hills

Season 3 finale of The Hills was a disappointment for me. I already knew what was going to happen at the end because it was all over US Weekly. The one thing that would have made it exciting was that is Brody and Lauren actually got together, or that he was on the plane waiting to go with her to Paris or something. This kiss was cute and all, but JUST GET TOGETHER ALREADY!!! He's hot!!! With that said, I can't wait for Season 4 to begin. I wish that US Weekly or any of the trashy magazines didn't publish the photos before it airs on the episodes because it ruins it for those who watch the show. There is no element of surprise to it. I remember back when I wasn't into Laguna Beach, so I would never read whatever was published in the magazines. When I finally got into the show, it was a year later and everything I watched was a surprise to me, I went in knowing nothing. Now that The Hills will be on hiatus for a while, I can concentrate on Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill that starts season 5 on January 8th. For those who are into OTH, they skip over the four years of college.

Birthday weekend

So, my birthday weekend started off with the Nike Christmas Party at Paramount. Yes, it is the third time that we have been to this venue this year - first for J&J's wedding and then for Darryl & Clecia's wedding. It was pretty boring but hey, it was a free dinner right. Plus, I got to pull a "secret mission" for a dear friend of mine. I was nervous and scared but I think that the outcome will be an everlasting one =)

Saturday began with groceries and then cooking. I made Bacon Crab mushroom caps and Roasted Red Potato Bites. I was nervous of what it would taste like. But James and Rex devoured the mushroom caps. It made my day. Rex made salsa and Empanadas, Maureen brought turon (my mom's favorite) and Ukoy (my brother's favorite), good thing they stopped by, and Julie brought an Apple cheesecake (I am eating it as I type with a glass of red wine). We chatted, played some Wii, played Name That Tune and Scene It. I had a lot of fun because I just love it when all my friends get together. It was an early night, everyone was gone by midnight.

Sunday we went to Mike's parent's house. I was greeted with hugs from the whole family. I got a nice necklace from Steph and money and aroma sticks from their mom. We played some DS, Jay is now a proud owner, I can't wait to play against him. The cutest thing was that Momma Jen was asking if any one brought a cake for me and when she realized that there was no cake, she baked one for me. Warm Chocolate Cake with vanilla ice cream was so yummy!!!!
Today, my dad and Gino came over. I got a satin robe and nightie from my dad and Tita Cecile. We also took our annual family Christmas photo that my dad sends out to his family.

Here is a link to my
birthday pictures. You'll see all the presents I got. I love them all and I have the best friends and family any girl could ask for. P.S. - Mike got me a gorgeous but large Cole Haan bag for my birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!

recap of my last two weekend...

Now I find it really hard to keep on posting on my blog. I feel that if I don't continue to write at least every other day, I may lose the three readers that I have.

My days have been busy at work and I am not sure if it's the change in season and weather, I get so tired after work. I am feeling a lot better these days but work and the commute is tiring me out. I finally did have a nice weekend for Mike's birthday. I was out and about for the whole weekend doing things for Mike's birthday but then I was plagued with the pain once again come Monday. I took it easy for the rest of the week so I was able to have another nice weekend.

I will do a quick recap of Mike's birthday weekend, unfortunately, I don't have any photos of his birthday weekend:
  • finally decided to get Mike a present - a new mac keyboard - but I believe it screwed up his mac and he was without it for a couple of days
  • his family went for dim sum early Saturday morning for his birthday and then they all came over for some Wii. It was really cute to see Mike's parents play tennis together
  • the markham crew stopped by in the evening for more Wii - Olympics - Ron is the king of the 100 m
  • my mom took us out for lunch the next day
Here is my recap of this past weekend and some pictures to go with it:
  • put up our ghetto Christmas tree - I must admit, it's looking better now since we had more decorations
  • purchase a cute snowman wreath to put outside our door
  • went skating with Mike's friends - had a great time until my skate pick hit the ice and I did a face plant. My knee is now totally bruised
  • baked Mars Bar cheesecake bites and gave some to the security guards of our building
  • bought most of the kids their present - now if only Julie would come over and wrap them for me
  • picked up Gino at the airport - he is back from VanCity
It's back to work. This will be my last busy week of the year. I will probably be off for the holidays from December 14th and will return in the new year. Before then, I will finally get to meet up with Darren and hopefully I will get to catch up with Jes before the holidays. Our crew is still trying to figure out what is going to happen with our annual Kris Kringle party. I have a feeling it's not going to happen this year...oh well...when we get our own house, we will be throwing parties all the time!

unexpected guests

Last night, miQ and I finally received our new Sealy Posturepedic mattress. It's great! I look forward to many wonderful nights of awesome sleeping. This 13" mattress definitely beats our old 5"!!!

But just after our mattress was delivered, two familiar faces came over since they were in the area. Dee and Jae came over to play some Wii, eat some sushi and watch Die Hard 4. Although I only got to chill with them for an hour (due to my reoccurring illness), it was great to see them. It's been so long since I have seen any of my friends.

little girl's visit

Last night the Sarmientos came over for a visit.

The night started off with everyone eating cupcakes and then we feasted on sushi from our secret place that delivers. Dianne and Michael kept busy by playing Carnival Games on Wii and reading magazines while I played little games with Belle (walking with slippers around the condo and then lining them all up and also playing baby with the one Care Bear that I still have) and miQ kept her company watching Shrek 2. This one princess is such a smart cookie. She knows where I keep things and she also can sing the whole alphabet and she's not even 2 years old yet.

I really enjoyed their visit and I hope that they come over more often. But the next time Belle comes over, miQ and I plan to buy a few toys that she can play with.

Isn't she so cute?!?!?!

someone's hogging the big TV

As promised to Mike after last year's Raptor season, I subscribed to the additional HD channels. We now also get HD Raptors, HDTSN, HDDiscovery and all the West Coast networks in HD. So, if we miss a show during Primetime, we can now watch it in HD at midnight.

But with basketball season starting, I now have to resort to watching my shows in our little 19 inch TV in the bedroom. I have been kicked out of the living room. What have I done? At least miQ watches some of the same shows so I know that I will get to watch Grey's, Gossip Girl and others in HD but I won't get to watch all the other 300 channels that we get when there is a basketball game.

Am I complaining? Not yet...but I do hate when basketball season comes around. I can't talk to miQ when he is watching a game (he thinks it's a jinx) and he also hogs the couch. Well, the good thing, only 6-7 months of this - unless the Raptors make the playoffs...

i've been away for much too long

I have not been a blog slacker. I have been sick...NO, I AM NOT PREGNANT!!! I don't feel like I need to explain what's been going on with me, but if you must know, give me a call or send me an email and I will tell you. Anyway, I believe that I am 99% better. I just need to eat and gain my strength back. So, after missing 5 days of work and leaving early the days that I do come in, here I am at work, trying to work. I am so use to sleeping and lying around that it's hard for my brain to actually function. It should all come back to me...I hope!

Once my brain is working again, I will be back blogging, back working and back to my normal life. I need to catch up with friends, do some shopping and definitely do some cleaning. So stay tuned for some posts from me.

what's in your bag

I have seen many posts of "what's in your bag", so I decided that I should post up what's in my bag these days. First of all, Mama Jen brought me back a replica of a designer handbag from the Philippines. To be exact, it's Chloe bag. I am not too familiar with Chloe bags so I don't mind sporting a fake one. I am really taking a liking to this bag because it's thin and can fit a magazine or notebook.

Now, in my bag, I have the following:
  • Nintendo DS (currently playing Diner Dash)
  • 2007 Daily Planner
  • Matt & Nat wallet (contains all my loyalty cards, photos, coupons, business cards and band-aids)
  • What's Cooking magazine from Loblaws
  • Leather notebook
  • IPod Nano
  • Coach Skinny wallet
  • Keri Lotion
  • pass card for work
  • Keychain (Julie bought me the Coach keyfob)
  • Luna bar (Peanut Butter Cookie)
  • Trident Strawberry Fusion gum
  • Motorola PEBL cell phone
  • Compact mirror from H & M
  • elastics and mini butterfly clip
  • Smith's Rosebud Salve (for lips and cuticles)
  • Labello - cherry flavour (a light pink tint)
  • Aveeno lip blam
  • Clinique lip brush, Smashbox lipliner in Smashing Define, MAC lipliner in Brick
  • mark Just Pinched in Berry
  • MAC lipstick in M.A.C. Red
  • mark hook up with Tinted Sheenstick lip balm in Fanciful and Glow Baby Glow lip gloss in Pink Crush
  • MAC Lipgelee in Dewy Jube and CO Bigelow Ultra Mentha Lip Shine (Peppermint oil)
  • L'occitane Concrete de Parfum in Verbana Leaf (I love the smell of lemons)

music that hypes you up

This morning, I left the house at 6:10 am to be at work for 7:15am. It was dark and cold. I needed some kind of music to lift my spirits and brighten my day. So, I came to realize that there are certain songs that gets me going and hypes me up in the morning:
  • Don't Stop the Music - Rihanna
  • Because of You - Ne-Yo
  • I Don't Need a Man - Pussycat Dolls

I really don't feel like being at work right now. All I can think about is taking a vacation, somewhere hot, sunny and definitely far away from here!!!!

miQ went to Cuba and all I got was a lousy bag of chips

JUST JOKING!!! I got a can of ketchup & mayonnaise flavoured chips and also this cute bag of Roasted Chicken chips. The bag of chips looks like it has Uniqua (from The Backyardigans) on it. I have yet to try the chips. So, this was the funny little post I was talking about...the chips are so cute and colourful.

Now to recap my long weekend, I will just do it in point form because unlike others (who take long to update their blog after two weeks), I like to keep you up to date...

...Friday night
  • Rich, Gina, James and Trix came over for some filipino food (bought of course) and Wii. It was a night of fun and catching up.
  • I embarrassed myself by showing them how well I can play Cooking Mama. At first I though I was cool but then I realize that I am a cooking dork!
...Saturday
  • Went to dad's with Gino. Ate more filipino food - bangus rules! Most embarrassing moment - my dad patting my stomach saying "it's getting big". Damn, I am not even pregnant yet!
  • Went on a Wii game mission with Gino and miQ. Came home with NBA Live 08.
...Sunday
  • In Brampton for Thanksgiving lunch with the Solon kids and special guest "Ross". Food was good and grace was hilarious - thanks Dianne who making my day!
  • Played Singstar - Dianne and Charm tied singing "The Reason" and Jon kicked ass and sang the best version of "Take On Me". I just wished that everyone sang more.
  • The Dagas stopped by and I think Bray found his new love in Bella.
  • Played Guitar Hero, I suck but Charm rules. She's addicted. She even beat Gino.
  • Caught up on season premieres with miQ
...Monday
  • Gino and mom came by and cooked. Played Wii and Singstar. Mom kicked ass in bowling with 194. She's a pro but too bad she can't play tennis. Gino beat me in singing "Time After Time", how could this be??? Gino and mom went on a another gaming mission and now miQ and I have three more new games (which we are going to trade in)
  • I watched a bit of "The Hills" marathon, ironed about 10 of miQ's t-shirts, 4 dress shirts, 4 dresses and I still have to iron all our pants and shorts. I love ironing but I hate it when it accumulates, then finished off the night watching a mini marathon of Jon & Kate Plus 8.
And now it's back to work. I am definitely not looking forward to it but I amlooking forward to making plans with Dee since he is now back from Cabo.

maroon 5

Last night miQ and I went to see Maroon 5 at ACC. They were fan-frickin-tastic! I had so much fun and thanks to miQ who got awesome seats. The past two concerts that we have seen, we were sitting in Section 300, all the way at the top. So this one was a treat. miQ said from now on, we should just spend the money and get really good seats. We brought our Lumix camera and got some great shots. I wanted to post up some photos of the concert but I am going to cheat and give you the link to miQ's blog because he posted up the photos there - miQ Live.

Because this is the third concert we have seen this year, I thought that I would share a list with you (Gino, I know that my list is nothing compared to yours). Here are all the concerts I have seen, I may not remember the tour name or dates but I will just list them and put an "*" by the one that I really enjoyed:

Maroon 5 w/The Hives*
Christina Aguilera w/ The Pussycat Dolls
Justin Timberlake w/ Pink
Robin Thicke*
Ashley Simpson
Britney Spears (The Onyx Tour)
Justin Timberlake & Christina Aguilera*
Britney Spears (Dream Withing a Dream) w/ O-town*
Air Supply

in pain with nothing to gain

Yes, I know, once again I have been a blog slacker! But I do have a reason. I have been plagued with back problems for a few weeks now and in the past week, it has gone from "ouch" to "oh, I think I am going to die". I have gone to an RMT and she is working out the massive knots that I have developed in my lower back. So, that is the reason I have not been blogging. I am trying to avoid sitting in front of a computer once I get home from work. And at work...I just don't have any time. I do have a post with a funny picture that I plan to put up but it will have to wait for the weekend when the craziness has died down. Mike and I are going to the Maroon 5 concert tomorrow and we have a little post-birthday party for two of our friends on Friday. Stay tuned for some pictures of Friday night with Wii and our Friiends!

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this warm weather we are having in T.O.

yummy cupcakes

Last night - Jenn, Jay and Maureen came over to discuss my favorite subject - destination weddings. Jenn made me cupcakes for helping them with their initial planning stages. The cupcakes are so small and cute and oh so yummy!

This picture doesn't do any justice because I don't know how to take picture properly. But thank you Jenn for bring over the delicious cupcakes. I will truly enjoy eating ALL of them. I can't wait for my next order.

miQ is coming home tonight. I can't wait for him to be back home. He texted me this morning that he wants to eat sushi after we pick him up at the airport. I also can't wait to see the videos he took with the new underwater video camera. But before I go to pick him up (with my mom of course!), I am going to hang out with my mom during the day. I have to go to Leon's to pay for a sofa cushion I ordered and I hope to go to the Mr. B's warehouse sale to see if there is anything there. Tomorrow, Mike and I are going to visit our travel agent at the 2007 Fall Travel Show.

so what?

So what if I didn't party like a rockstar the week that miQ is gone. Work was unexpectedly busy and I haven't been feeling that great so I have to admit that it's nice to not have to cook after work. I have been able to relax. Monday and Tuesday were an early morning start, so I have been really tired, I even have bags under my eyes.

miQ and JP are back on Saturday. miQ has been sending me a text every day. He said that he had taken lots of video with the new underwater camera he bought before he left. I can't wait to see them.

So, as promised to Marilen, here is my fall line up. I will try to include a little comment besides each show.

MONDAY
The Hills - I love this show esp. now since Jason is back in it. Too bad about the new fiancee (she's a bitch)

TUESDAY
Gossip Girl - it's a cool show, it's my new guilty pleasure high school show (now that One Tree Hill is going to have the new season with them finished university)

WEDNESDAY
America's Next Top Model - sort of getting into it but I am looking forward to the episode when they do the makeovers
Private Practice - I wasn't too thrilled about the spin off and Addison leaving Grey's but I was impressed with the season premiere. I think I will keep on watching it
Dirty Sexy Money - this is my surprise addition, I wasn't expecting to add this too my fall line up but it was on after Private Practice so I caught the first few minutes and it intrigued me, now i am hooked

THURSDAY
Survivor: China - Characters aren' t that exciting but isn't it always that way in the beginning?
Grey's Anatomy - it's going to be interested, throwing in Lexie was a smart idea!

FRIDAY
nothing

*A special shout out to JJIT - Congrats on the new job!! We should go for lunch before you leave downtown. I'll be in touch to set something up.

which bag???

I am too lazy to write what I have been doing lately, but let me just say that I have been doing nothing but playing Wii. miQ left yesterday morning for Holguin. I normally live for those days when I get "alone time" but it's been a bit lonely. I am glad that he bought me the Wii before he left.

Anyway, this is the week where I have to make a decision on what new bag I will get. I have been eyeing two bags. A black Cole Haan bag and recently, a olive green leather Roots bag. They are about the same price (I have a special hook up for the Cole Haan bag) but I have to look again at the bag when I go to the Cole Haan store on Wednesday. Take a look at the photos below and do the poll on the left hand side. I need your help.

party like a rockstar

Well, I am sure that you have heard the news that miQ and JP are leaving for Holguin, Cuba this Saturday. This is my week to go out and do my thing...but it's highly unlikely. I will probably be home playing Wii since at the moment I am SOOOO addicted to Cooking Mama. For the past two nights, I have been up late playing. At first it was difficult to get use to the Wii remote but I am getting the hang of it which is what makes me want to play it all the time. miQ bought Metroid and Resident Evil but he has yet to play the two games. I think that he is too hyped up about his trip and is busy trying to pack.

Now, I have to update on Gossip Girl. I did watch the pilot episode. It was good but if you watched the previews leading up to the season premiere, it basically showed the entire episode. So, I was watching the show but my eyes were not glued to the TV. There are some things that are different than what is portrayed in the book. Some of these include: Serena's brother is an older hot brother who is away at college and Chuck is gay. I am sure that there are more but this what I can remember for now. I can't wait for the next episode though!
Yesterday I played squash with my mom. She recently got a membership at the community centre by her place and thought that she should get me doing something active (plus she wanted to see how long I could last if I played). Well, it took me a while to get use to hitting the ball, and then I had to get use to serving (which was really difficult for me, I kept on missing the ball). All in all, I lasted 20 minutes. A normal squash game is 40 minutes. Will I ever play again? Sure - I am not going to give up yet. Hopefully soon enough I can last the 40 minutes.

you go girl

Elodie - you are my hero! you go and put heidi in her place! Last night's episode of The Hills was awesome. I love how Jason is back in LC's life and you could see how comfortable she is with him and then I love how Elodie was straight up with Heidi about her "issues" with the other girls. CLASSIC!!!

Last night was a strange night. Not strange in a bad way but in a good way. miQ and I got a surprise visit from MoPar and her new car (you have to think of a name for your car) and then we got a surprise call from Reechee. It was nice to catch up with him. And then at 11 freaking o'clock, Gino comes by with this:

A surprise "PER-CHASE" from miQ. Gino picked it up for him and brought it to our place. G - I don't know how you do it - go out and stay out late - let me guess, you stayed for more than one drink?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!

Monday, September 17, 2007

new car smell

Today MoPar picked up her new car (a 2007 blue Civic) and stopped by our place. miQ and I were the first to take a spin in her car. It's an awesome car and I am so happy for MoPar. I can't wait for our next night out to cruise around downtown. WHERE DA CLUB AT???
P.S. - I don't write for a couple of days and then look at me - 3 posts in one day!

fashion repeats itself

While I have been sick at home over the weekend, I was able to catch an episode of Beverly Hills, 90120. TVTropolis has finally started to air the seasons that I enjoyed watching back in the day. In comes Valerie Malone - this is the season when they start college and Brenda is no longer on the show. Valerie is wearing a baby doll dress with motorcycle boots and as I watched her walk down the stairs of the Walsh household, I thought to myself...this outfit she pulled off looks very familiar...

Of course, my stylish fashionista friend, SAD, has rocked this ensemble for the past year. To think that you can always bring back a look 10 years later. So, here's to your Frye boots and dresses!!!

BITING

Today I have two things to talk about and it has to do with biting.

BIT: I was shopping with my mom on Friday at WalMart. As we were leaving the store, it started to rain. Now I was wearing jeans that were too long and I wanted to roll them up so they would not get soaked as we walked through the parking lot. I told my mom to wait and here is how our conversation went:

Leesh: "Mom. Wait. I want to roll up my pants so they don't get wet."
Mom: "Oh My God! I think you have to take the bus home."
Mom walks away.
Leesh thinking WTF?

It turns out, I forgot about my tattoo (which I have been hiding so well from my mom by wearing long pants every time I see her) and started to roll up the bottom of my jeans. My mom saw my tattoo as I was doing this. I couldn't stop laughing all the way to the car. I got bit for my tattoo by my mom for such a stupid reason - because I wanted to roll up my jeans. So stupid. Anyway, we get into the car and here is the next part of our conversation:

Leesh: "Mom, aren't you going to drive?"
Mom: "Just give me a minute, I need a moment to myself."
Leesh: "LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!"

I am glad that my mom is still talking to me. She was supposed to come to my place for a bit after shopping but she wanted to be alone. She did call me over the weekend so she is not that mad at me. When I got my first tattoo, she would hang up on me every time I tried to call her.

BITTEN: The other day I posted up Lauren Conrad's new line and yes, although it's cute, it is rather pricey. So here is Sarah Jessica Parker's line, Bitten. Her prices are well, CHEAP! You can find her line at Steve & Barry's. Luckily there is one at Walden Galleria and I have an upcoming Buffalo trip next month. I have to check it out!!! I will definitely find pieces that I could wear to work or on the weekends and it's so affordable. I have to admit that I do shop cheap.

crazy mad about cupcakes

Yes, I love cupcakes but today's post isn't about expressing my love for the delicious cakes, rather it's about how disappointed and mad I am about a certain cupcake shop. I recently found a new cupcake shop in Toronto on Sweet Spot. I checked out Cupcakes Boutique and thought I should place an order with them. I called them Monday last week and by Friday when I still didn't hear from them, I called again Friday. AND STILL NO ANSWER FROM THEM!!! (Yes, I am typing in caps because I am YELLING)

What company doesn't call back when a customer wants to place a order? If she is on holidays or something, she should leave that on her voice mail. I am so disappointed with this shop, they have such good cupcakes and I was so excited to order a dozen from them. So, I am crazy mad about cupcakes right now. I want some!

her new collection

I know that I have been a "blog slacker" these days. Work has picked up and now I have limited access to the net so I can't be updating my blog every day unless I do it from home. And we all know that I hate jumping on the computer after 8 hours at work. Anyway, it's Saturday so I will try to make up for not writing in my blog for the past few days.

Today is the release of Lauren Conrad's (Laguna Beach and The Hills) first collection. For the Fall season, her collection is only available online on her website Shop Lauren Conrad. The collection consists of about 15 pieces and some are named after her friends. There are definitely some cute dresses I would want.

thank you

This post goes out to Marilen. I just went to see my mom and she gave me the "little somethings" from you. Thank you for the hand soaps from Bath & Body. Very thoughtful of you. It's always nice to get Bath & Body stuff because we don't have it here in Canada. I hope that we never get it here in Canada because it then takes out the fun of getting it from the States. It is exactly what happened with Hollister, Sephora, Forever 21 and Coach.

Oh ya - for those of you who have heard "The Hacker" who lives next door to us, I have some good news - HE IS MOVING. I got off the elevator this afternoon and so did a realtor and a potential buyer. The potential buyer is gross but the fact that "The Hacker's" unit is up for sale makes me happy. I hope we get some cool neighbours!

oops, she didn't do it again

Poor, poor, poor Britney. Trying to make a comeback but just couldn't do it. I wasted three minutes of my life watching her sad, pathetic performance on the VMAs last night. I was really looking forward to it since the song is kinda catchy but she let me down, plus 10 million other people on this planet. I am sure for those of you who watched it, you probably sat there in awe, watching her not lip-sync, not dance, not even look like she was all there. I was a fan (keyword: WAS) but since she couldn't rise above from all the other stupid shit she's done, I can officially say, I AM A BRITNEY HATER!!! I would post up a youtube clip of her performance but I don't want her crap on my page (except for the one picture above). I wouldn't be able to stand seeing her unfit body walk around like a zombie in flashy bra and underwear on stage again. It would be torture.

So brit - your time has come to an end. You should really concentrate on being a better mom to your two cute kids. I am so TEAM KEVIN now!!!

i have nothing to say

I was doing so well with my blog but for once, I have nothing to say. I worked really hard Friday morning since my office was going to close at 2:00. I met Stfne at her work to pick up some "nadas" (so good Rexy) and then I went to Square One. I tried to look for this black dress that I had my eye on but I had no luck. I did see a floor length dress I could wear next summer. I decided not to buy it because I really wanted a curling iron. I found one at Zellers for $18, I figure that I don't have to spend the little extra on a good one because I won't be using it as much.

The rest of my Friday night was uneventful but I did actually stay up after midnight. Today, miQ and I went early to his parent's house. His parents just came back from San Fran and brought back some goodies. Marlboro Ultra Lights for miQ and See's Toffee-ettes for me!!! I got to hang out with Belle. She is so fun to play with, she is so smart and says the cutest things.
So now, here I am 9:40 pm on a Saturday night writing in my blog. miQ and JP are downstairs using the Virtual Golf (We are actually using our amenities). I think that they are going to watch Disturbia when they get back, it's too scary for me so I am just going to read or pop in a chick flick. And then I am calling it a night. What an interesting social life I have!!!

Now to follow up on a post that Marilen wrote, here is my list of broadway shows I have seen:
1) Phantom of the Opera
2) Miss Saigon
3) Mamma Mia
4) Lion King

My favorite was Miss Saigon.

gossip girl is the new OTH

If you don't know what OTH stands for - it's One Tree Hill, a CW show that has been on for four seasons but now the cast is no longer in high school. For the fifth season, they will skip university and go straight to their life back in Tree Hill. Therefore, I needed to find a new show to get my fix of life in high school. Along came GOSSIP GIRL. This television series started off as a novel. The teen bopper in me had to read these books and instantly was hooked. I can't wait for it to start on September 18. Check out the show on CW or CTV.

Here's a preview of the show:

quick quick quick

Today I treated the day like it was back to school. I woke up on time and got to work before everyone else. And since I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, I worked an extra hour. Needless to say, I am tired.

But even though I am tired, I decided that I had to take off my toe polish and do a quick pedicure. I used the YSL Nail Touch #6 and I love it. It's so quick and easy to use. I know that it's $26, quite pricey for nail polish but it's so worth it. I just wish I liked more of the other colours.

Thanks Stfne for the tip on this great product!

attention all cereal and ice tea lovers!!!

If you are in the GTA area or maybe anywhere in Ontario and love Honey Bunches of Oats and Nestea ice tea, it's on sale at Dominion. Each product is $1.99 each. I bought 3 boxes of cereal and two cases of tetra packs (10 in a case) on Sunday. I thought I would share this great deal with you in case you are in need or are grocery shopping this week.

good food and good company

I did nothing this long weekend but I enjoyed doing nothing. I didn't spend money and I got to relax. I did go over to the Dagas yesterday with miQ. Rex the CHEF made awesome NADAS (his version of empanadas, well, his lola's recipe). They were so yummy. Rex also made amazing chicken and beef burritos! I LOVE MEXICAN FOOD!!! The lovely Stfne (the waitress) was kind enough to take our orders and also make a delicious (from what I hear) trifle.

I got to play with my little buddy Brayden. It's been about 5 months since I have last seen him and I wanted to cry at the fact that he is no longer a baby, he is this little boy who will be starting school in a few weeks. Thanks Dagas for the good food and the company. miQ and I always have a good time at your house. You guys have to come over for some Shepherd's Pie and Surf's Up!

why can't i save?

Yesterday after work, I met up with Stfne to go walk and shop in Yorkville. First we checked out Costa Blanca for this black dress I have been eyeing. I first saw it with Julie but they didn't have it in a small. I had no luck at the Yorkville location either. Next, we went to Holt Renfrew to look at make up and bags. We checked out the Pout counter, Jemma Kidd, Chanel, Bobbi Brown and YSL. After all our looking, Stfne wanted to get the Nail Touch (Nail Lacquer Brush Pen) at the YSL counter. They had 6 different colours to choose from. Stfne got two and I got one. I can't wait to try it out but it will have to wait since I just painted my nails black. Next, Stfne and I walked around looking for bags, I can't name all the designers we looked at but in the end, I will probably go with a Cole Haan bag. I will post up it if I ever buy it. We checked out all the individual designers upstairs and came across the show section. I tried on Christian Louboutin pumps. Holy shit, I don't know how the celebrities walk around in 5 inch heels but I have to say they are comfy.

I thought that since I was in Yorkville, I should check for the Baggallini Jewelry Square. With Stfne's luck, we found a black one in the store, so of course, I had to buy it. I can't wait to travel or attend a wedding so I can pack up my jewelry in it. To finish off our walk and shop, we stop by Sushi Inn to eat some hand rolls. So, after my first poll, I bought my mary janes, the jewelry square and if you look in the picture, I bought a cheesy gold necklace from H & M for $5. I had to save somewhere.

My last purchase (and it's the reason why I must stay home tonight) is a Gasoline 25" luggage. After our trip to Mexico, miQ and I decided that we have to put our baby pink and baby blue luggage to rest - we donated it to Goodwill. Since we woke up early today, we went to the mall, it was quite an experience considering we bought each luggage at a different store and we had these two girls wanting the same luggage and following us. Luckily miQ is quick and smart. We were always one step ahead of them...SUCKERS!!!!

My shopping habits are the reason I can't save. I should start saving but with this new luggage, miQ and I now defnitely have to book our next vacation ;)

something to do at work

you'll never guess what happened

There was a replay of Making the Band 4 - Live Finale. After the mishap the other night, I searched to see if it would be on again and I didn't find anything. So, I searched the net and youtube for anything I could find about the finale. I found out who made the band, about Donnie's solo record deal, etc...and then last night, there it was on TV. I ruined it for myself by being so obsessed.

my new shoes

Based on the poll votes on what I should buy next, I should have bought a gold necklace or the jewelry square case. Well, the square case may be a long shot. Stfne and I are going to Yorkville on Friday to see if I can get the store to order it. As for the necklace, my mom has a place for me to buy a new one but since she is in Cali, I have to wait. So, I bought mary janes. I have always wanted peep toe pumps and mary janes - so why not combine the two together into one and guess what, I found it at Winners.

Stay tuned for the another poll of what I should buy next.

Now for my review of The Nanny Diaries. I liked it. I give it 4/5. I love chick flicks and there are a few elements that the movie must have in order for me to truly love it:

  1. Hot girl with hot clothes - no one wants to watch an ugly girl. If she wear great clothes , it's a bonus. Don't you watch movies for inspiration?
  2. Hot guy - Hello? Eye candy!!!
  3. Crying - I must cry at least once during the movie.
  4. Soundtrack - when there is music that relates to a scene in the movie, all the better.

With that said, I deducted 0.25 because there was a hot girl but she didn't wear any great clothes (after all, she was a nanny) and then I deducted 0.25 because it only maybe me choke up a tiny bit, no full out crying and another 0.50 because there was no soundtrack and if there was, the music sucked because I don't remember any of it. Overall, it's a good movie to watch if you are a mom, if you've lived in NY or if it's a night out with the girls (because Chris Evans is hot, well, I seem to think so). Anyway, it's a funny movie and the kid makes some cute remarks. But I would wait to watch it on DVD. Luckily, we had passes and gift certificates so it made our movie night a free night.

Thank you Jes, Gina and Trix for the company. We must do it again soon. Next time, we won't buy so much popcorn, fries and nachos.

the nanny diaries

Chick flicks are always fun when you watch it with your girlfriends. Tonight, I am going to watch The Nanny Diaries with Jes, Trix and maybe Gina. I'll give my review on the movie tomorrow. I did read this book a few years back but it's really hard to remember all the small details.
