book I am reading (part 1)...

This book is on my fabFIVE list. I have to confess that I saw the book on WhoWhatWearDaily. Yes, you all know that I admire Ms Conrad. I still start this book on my GO train ride home tonight. I find the book title so damn funny. I will continue with a part 2 once I am a few pages into the book. For further details on the book, click here.

all booked and waiting for may to come...

We are all booked. Mike and I booked at Paris for our Las Vegas trip. We are going Wednesday to Saturday, and my mom's wedding is on Friday. We are going to somewhat plan what we will be doing for our stay there but at the same time, we want to be carefree! I know that I want to go to the Pussycat Dolls Lounge and also shop, maybe even play a few slot machines. We will see how it goes. But for now...two more months until our trip. I hope we get through out busy work schedules, this never ending snow and my dreadful weekend in Ottawa.

my busy weekend

My weekend started off with me feeling like I was coming down with a cold Friday afternoon. With this feeling, I ended up canceling my plans to hang out with the Dagas. I went home early and just slept. Saturday, I went with Mike to MK Designs to get my hair cut and coloured. Then it was off to Buffalo with Maureen to go to Coach outlet, Walden Galleria and Target. Surprisingly, we did not get lost or checked at the border. Some things that I bought - Lash Discovery mascara, Burt's Bees lip balm, onesies for Baby R.J., sandals, lime and chili almonds, lotion and body oil. I didn't buy much because I didn't really see anything.

What Maur and I ate at The Cheesecake Factory:

Serves Four or More! A Combination of Our Favorite Appetizers including: Avocado Eggrolls, Spinach and Cheese Dip, Pot Stickers, Summer Rolls, Quesadilla, Corn Cakes, Buffalo Blasts and Calamari

The cheesecake I picked up before going home - Snickers Bar Chunks and Cheesecake
After Buffalo, Mike and I went to spend the night at Hakkim Hotel - drank wine, played Rockband, found chocolates on our pillows, ate an awesome breakfast, looked at the Louzado-D'Souza wedding photos, and got an awesome spanish guitar CD. I love staying at Hakkim Hotel (I wonder if I can become a VIP).

Next on Sunday was stopping by the Ponce Household to visit the newly born R.J. (Rayden Jestice). He is adorable and has the cutest screeching scream. Rylen is in love with his new baby brother and is finally paying attention to Mike and I again. Since his birthday he has been ignoring us.

(Please pardon the picture, it was taken with a camera phone)

We then stopped by to pass our respect to the Lopez family. Ed's father passes away suddenly on Friday.

The last stop for our weekend was dinner at Canyon Creek for some Prime Rib and Lamb Chops. I was feeling dizzy all weekend so I thought some red meat might do the trick. No such luck, still feeling dizzy and lightheaded. So after this whirlwind weekend from Buffalo to Ajax, I plan to sit on the couch all night tonight and watch Jon & Kate plus 8 and Making the Band 4. What a weekend but well worth it =)

product review

Lately these days, I have been having issues with blemishes/pimples/acne - whatever you want to call it. I called upon my trusted source, BlushPretty to recommend a product for my annoying problem. BP suggested that I try Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment. Within a few hours of applying the treatment, the redness of my pimple diminishes, within a day, it decreased. The only drawback is that it did dry out the pimple so I had to remember to moisturize it. Do consider picking up this product if you want a fast-acting solution to those pesky pimples!

fabFIVE on rotation

Here is what I have on repeat this week on my iPod:

Damaged Danity Kane - Last year I heard of this girl group formed by Diddy but didn't really care to see what their song sounded like. But because of Making the Band 4, I had to check out their new single and it's a really catchy pop song.

Got Me Going Day 26 - Since I am addicted to Making the Band and because Will is hot, it only makes sense for me to me listening to this song all the time, now if only Donnie came out with a single.

Soulmate Nastasha Bedingfield - This song played on The Hills a while back, and like Mike & Gino always say to me, you only like songs that play on your favorite TV shows.

Kindly Unspoken Kate Voegele - And again, song played on One Tree Hill. There is something about hearing a song for the first time and it being associated with a situation in a certain episode that makes me enjoy the song more. Now if I only had my own soundtrack to my life...

Heaven on Earth Britney Spears - Mike introduced me to this song and it's a catchy dance tune by the Pop Diva. Her album is quite alright...I just wish she was sane enough to promote it.

women in style

I just got home from attending an evening at the Bata Show Museum. WeirFoulds LLP with Holt Renfrew put together an event, Women in Style. My boss originally had invited me to go with her but she forgot that it was tonight and couldn't make it, so Amanda got to attend with me. There was a fashion show by Holt Renfrew, draws for Jimmy Choo shoes and handbags, $500 gift cards from HoltRenfrew, a Chanel gift basket and to top off MY evening, you could get your makeup done by one of the make up artist. I was at there for most of the night chatting away about makeup while Amanda got hers done. I eventually got my makeup retouched by Nancy, who was awesome by the way, I love how she was so excited to do the retouch. What started off with just retouching my red lips, ended up in redoing my eyes, brows, blush and lips again (in a pale shade). I soon want to go to Chanel to buy the lipliner, lip gloss and eyeshadow palette she used. Some other bonuses of the evening - CHAMPAGNE, hors d'oeuvres and of course, getting to see Stfne and K-Chan! Thank you WF for the fun-filled evening...

reconnecting without facebook

As many of my friends know, I am not on facebook. I don't care to join because I don't want to get sucked in. I would love to join to reconnect with old friends not to keep in touch with the friends that I have now.

An old friend from Whitehorse, J.R., found my brother on facebook. G sent me J.R.'s email and we just reconnect via email this weekend. It's so strange that she found G. Anyway, even though it was facebook that connected them, I am glad that it happened. See, I don't need to be on facebook to reconnect with old friends. G can just do it for me!

suppose to be

This weekend was suppose to be my resting weekend and already I have plans for tonight. MoBerry sent me a text early this morning to see if I wanted to go to Buffalo tomorrow but because of a baby's first birthday party, it wouldn't work. We may try for next weekend. Anyway, while we were talking about it, she asked if I wanted to go watch a movie, Definitely, Maybe. We might go and watch it but I also found out that Reggie is going to be stopping by to FINALLY see our place. We just ordered sushi and we will see how the night goes. Maur is going to be bringing some wine so let's even see if we make it to the movies.

I truly believe though that after the bday party and with the next snow storm coming in on Sunday, the rest of the weekend will allow me to relax. I plan to sleep, finish up Julie's scarf, do some filing, paint my nails, sort through my magazines and catch up on some movies that Mike got.

After the Family Day weekend, my week will be busy. I have a program full day program on Tuesday and then an eye appointment after (I am nervous about this appointment because they will be putting in the eye drops in my eyes that apparently make you kinda loopy according to Mike). Wednesday, I am going to the Bata Shoe Museum with my boss to a Women's Networking and Fashion Show event put on by WeirFoulds LLP and Holt Renfrew (I will get to see my dear friend, SAD). Thursday, I am going for dinner with an old friend from Humber College who I recently re-connected with (without the help of Facebook!!!). Edilka was a good friend of my back in the day, we were both in the Business Administration program and hung out a lot on the weekends too. When we were exchanging emails, she mentioned that she had a boy back in Nov 2006, so I get to meet him when we meet! I am so excited. So, it will be a busy week for me...

no more la senza

I usually get home from work around 5:15 pm and as soon as I get home, I change into my pjs and then start to cook. After last night, I decided that I am no longer going to wear "real" pajamas, like anything bought from La Senza, Old Navy, etc...I am going to start to wear "house clothes" or jogging pants. I finished cooking dinner and then was on the computer and the phone and suddenly, there is knocking on the door. I quickly grabbed a hoodie to wear over the nightie (see picture) and striped pj pants I was wearing. It was the President of the Board from our condo. I answered the door, not really thinking of what I looked like in my ridiculous night gear (I know that Richie can voucher for me how ridiculous I look). We were chatting for at least 15 minutes, I even let him into the front little hallway of our suite. Mike eventually came home and joined our conversation. Mike had a really weird look after and said to me that he couldn't believed that I answered the door looking the way I did.

Moral of my story - I am just going to wear normal looking pajamas, ones that I don't mind being seen in by strangers. I feel a shopping spree coming on!!!

ONE TREE HILL FANS - did you see the preview for next week? OMG!!! All I have to say is too bad for Peyton!

working hard on the railroad

This weekend I had to work Friday and Saturday for a mock trial competition for law students. I complained about having to be up so early and working a 14-hour day on Saturday. But then I had a chance to speak to the security guard at the Court House. He told me a bit about his life. He works as a security guard on Friday from 4 pm to midnight and then on Saturday from noon to midnight. From Monday to Friday, he has a full time job in a factory from 7 am to 3 pm. Sundays are his day to spend with his kids, taking them to piano and swimming. He has a 3 year old son and a 7 year old daughter. He works these two jobs so his wife does not have to work and can stay home to take care of their kids. Daycare is to expensive for them.

Now, here is a man who is doing what he can to support his family and here I am complaining about working a 14-hour day which I only have to do once a year. I realized how selfish I am being and how at this moment, my life is pretty easy and I should stop complaining. So from now on, when I think my life is tough, I have to remember that there is someone out there that has it tougher than me or maybe even worse than me. I should be thankful for what I have instead of complaining, and maybe enjoy the fact that I have a job where most of the time, I only have to work 7 hours a day.

Sunday, February 3, 2008

I mentioned before that I became addicted to watching Making the Band 4. The second part of the season is going to start soon. Diddy puts Danity Kane (from Making the Band 3), the group and Donnie in a house in Miami and they will all record their album. It's basically a combination of Making the Band and The Real World. I just found one of the group's new songs, Together, on YouTube. It's been a while since I have listened to an R & B group, so I think it's why I am in love with the song.
