November confessions

Oh my, I almost forgot to do my November confessions (Maureen if you are reading this, I have a series for you..."I'm Not Gonna Lie". You say this phrase a lot and I think of you whenever I use it)

I have been pretty lazy to blog but I think I am getting my blogging legs back.

I'm secretly crushing on Nick Carter (from Backstreet Boys) since I saw the skinny, hot version of him perform with NKOTBSB at the American Music Awards.

I am excited for Asian Sensation 2011 in Vegas. Let's make it happen girls.

I'm getting very nervous for Christmas. ME + Christmas = hot mess. Next year, for sure, my hubby and I need to go on a beach vacation to avoid the holidays.

Yet, I still love Christmas movies, music, decorations and holiday cheer!

I miss my mom. I never truly realized it until I went to visit her this month.

I drank Coke too many times this month.

I hate playing Words with Friends because it make me feel dumb.

I'm really kicking myself for not buying some Sons of Anarchy gear when I was in California.

i ♥ snuggie

As Maureen would say, "I'm not gonna lie", I am in love with my snuggie. Thanks to Maureen who bought me a snuggie as an early birthday present, I have been attached by the hip with my leopard snuggie.

Before you start laughing at me, don't knock the snuggie until you try it. Yes, I was one of those people who laughed at the infomercial, and yes, I was one of those people who thought, "who the heck would buy and use one of those"...well, the answer is me. My cousin in San Fran had a Giants snuggie she got during the World Series and one night when I tried it, I was instantly in love.

I highly suggest you put a snuggie on your Christmas wish list!

Who knew I would pose with a snuggie?

In deep thought with my snuggie as I blog

Monday Memories: not really a memory but a thought

This post is more of a thought about two things. Two things that I have been thinking about and an email that sums it all up.

Remember a few days ago, I posted that it's okay to email a random person because you have something in common? Well, I received an email today from a random stranger and yes, we have something in common.

Now on Saturday night, I was asked by an acquaintance why I blog and what I blog about. I honestly did not know how to answer so I told her, I blog about my life and I blog because I hate repeating my stories to different people.

So, after tying these two scenarios together, I now know why I blog. Blogging reaches out to many people, maybe to your next door neighbour or all the way out to someone across the world. I write about what's on my mind, whether it be about shopping, eating, my travels, my TV line and in some cases, I write about my brother.

Most of you know by now (if you have been following my blog), my brother committed suicide two years ago and I used my blog as an outlet to vent my feelings. I was almost positive that readers would just skip over it but there were some people who took the time to read what I was going through. Well, today, I received an email from a father who lost his son the same way I lost my brother. He thanked me for sharing my story on my blog and told me that my many posts helped him and his family get through this difficult and painful time. Losing a loved one is tough but what hurts more than someone dying naturally is losing someone who chose to end their life with no explanation. Although there are many suicides that happen everyday, it's hard to find someone who you can relate to who has been through it. The email I received was very touching and I am glad that this gentlemen took the time to write this email to me. It helps me understand why I blog and that I am actually reaching out to people about my story about my brother.

To the kind gentleman who emailed me, you know who you are...thank you for your email.

How I ate my way through San Fran/San Jose

I ate a lot, so much that I just didn't want to eat anymore...

Salad of the day (I can't remember what it's called) at The Fish Hopper

Again, I can't remember the name of the salad at Fresca and it's not on their menu
(for more delicious photos, click here)

Tea sandwiches at Crown & Crumpet Tea Salon
(for more photos, click here)

In N Out burgers - the only time I made an exception to eat a hamburger (eww beef)

Garlic prawns with rice and beans at Casa Teresa

Oysters at Eagle's Cafe

My first Pinkberry ever...chocolate with dark chocolate crisps, fruity pebbles and cap'n crunch

After all this eating out, it's nice to have meals cooked by mom...

lumpia shanghai

tequila shrimp skewers

kalbi (that I didn't eat)

And of course, my trip wouldn't be complete without me baking some Skor bars but the problem is, they don't sell Skor bits in the States so I settled for Heath bits.

Blog Friend Friday: Meet e Q from misguided me

I discovered this lovely blogger (who real name I still don't know) when she left a comment on my blog to tell me that she got confused or had to do a double take when she saw me in a Halloween costume on someone else's blog. She, for a second, thought it was her.  I thought this was hilarious! She's got a great blog, misguided me and what drew me in was a post she did on New York. She use to live in NYC and since I have never been to NYC, her write up on places to go to really intrigued me.

1) When and why did you start blogging?
I started blogging March 2009 When I got laid off from my Job. I remember vividly the night I published my first post. I wanted to blog to fill up my boring jobless days. (I switched blog names/url in sept '09 and deleted my first blog. It was called The Blogging Banana and it was sweet & cute.)
2) Where do you live?
I just moved back to Seattle (where I grew up) after 3 years in NYC.

3) What do you for a living and what do you do in your spare time when you are not blogging?
By title I am an Interior Designer, but my whole professional career has been in retail store design for different well known companies. Spare time consists of playing with my dog Bax, hanging with my man Ron, shopping, TV (I am a huge TV whore!), learning new recipes, thinking of ways to stay fit but not actually doing any of them, eating and drinking, i love to garden but kill almost any plant I touch, meeting new people, happy hour, going to concerts, listening to and discovering new music.

4) What is your favorite website to visit daily?

Failblog, The Life Files, Cupcakes and Cashmere, 5 Inch and Up, Ok Player, Facebook

5) What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Barbados. I haven't been to many tropical places and my boyfriend took me there last winter. It was amazing.

6) Name your top three favorite songs.
Oh gosh....This is hard.
1. Method Man & Mary J Blige, You're All I Need to Get By
2. Daft Punk, Something About Us
3. Tied with so many songs!!! Fugees, Linkin Park, Eminem, Green Day, The Roots, Mos Def, Nas, The Strokes, Chromeo, Nirvana...the list goes on and on. It's cruel to just pick one.

7) Who is your favorite celebrity to stalk?

You should probably know I have a somewhat unhealthy obsession with Henry Cavill. Fashion-wise I tend to check out what the Kardashians are rocking, and just for pure entertainment I like to follow Katy Perry and Kanye West on twitter.

8) What's your favorite drink?

Gin on the rocks

9) What is your latest obsession?
Bitchin Kitchen on Cooking Chanel. Big chunky jewelry. West elm and Crate and Barrel sales. Loris Shoes Chicago, suede.

10) What would your last meal be?
This filipino dish called Kare-Kare. It's a peanut butter type stew. It's redunkulous. That or a medium new york strip with a tall glass of cabernet. nomnomnom.

Fill in the Blank Fridays (Christmas shopping edition)

I've missed two Fill in the Blank Fridays in a row because I was on vacation. I'm glad to be participating once again. If you would like to play along, don't forget to link up your post to Lauren's blog.

1. Black Friday is foreign to me. Since I live in Canada, we don't have a shopping frenzy like in the States. I would love to experience it though once in my lifetime.

2. Christmas shopping this year will include gifts for all the nieces, nephews and godchildren. Also lots of Kris Kringle and gift exchanges.

3. Holiday shopping makes me crazy. This is the first year in two years that my hubby and I will be in town for Christmas. We normally skip Christmas and getaway to a hot, sunny destination.

4. This year my Christmas list will include Modern Family (season 1), a snuggie, nail polish, slipper booties, a 2011 moleskine agenda (I've heard many good things about it from Steph and Elisse), and gift cards from Sephora, Forever XXI, Starbucks, H & M or Lush.

5. Bargain hunter, or full price shopper? Bargain hunter for sure!

6. The best and worst things about shopping is best things - secretly shopping for myself and getting some exercise by walking around. Worst things - crowds, crowds and more crowds.

7. Online shopper or in-person shopper? In-person shopper. I need to see things for myself, I need to touch it, feel it, etc. But I think I would like to give online shopping a go. There's something about shopping from the comfort of your own home.
Happy Friday everyone! It's hella early in the morning. I started work before 7 am today. I am hoping to get out of here early so I can get cracking on some shopping. Luckily, I don't have too many more gifts to buy. I bought some of them while I was in California. After some shopping, I will do some baking tonight and then tomorrow is a busy day filled with parties. Sunday is my day of rest but I plan to finish unpacking, write some Christmas cards and of course, prepare some blog posts! Enjoy your weekend!

How I shopped my way through San Fran/San Jose (Part 1)

I know I have said it before but I am going to say it again, I am really lazy to post so the next couple of posts are going to be short and sweet. But I did want to share with you my trip to San Francisco and San Jose. More details of what I did on my eight day trip to California will follow. For now, let me leave you with part one of what I bought. I didn't shop a lot for myself. My mission was to buy boots (which I did) and also clothes (this I didn't do) but I ended up buying lots for my nieces and nephew. Here's my purchases from Cole Haan - thanks to my hubby who hooked me up!

 Quinn tall boots in black
(I didn't think I could pull off over the knee boots. Well, it looks like I can now!)

 Bailey Pocket Hobo in black

Prudence II medium zip pouch in gunmetal

Felicity II small hobo in anthracite

Air Cassandra Sandal in beige

It's okay to...

...call your stylist out when he was hungover and cut layers in your hair when you clearly didn't want layers

...work out your triceps and biceps everyday and nothing else because you have a fear of big, jiggly arms

...change careers at any point in your life as long as it's going to make you happy

...randomly email other bloggers because you find you have something in common with them

...love relaxing vacations. Being lazy and sleeping is the only true vacay.

...admit that Eclipse was a boring movie with lots of cheesy lines.

...only figure out now that if you press the mic twice on Apple earphones, it forwards to the next song.

...not want to plan your own birthday celebration because you are lazy.

I'm back from Cali

Hey Everyone!  Yes, I am still alive and doing well. I just got back from my eight day Cali trip (to San Jose and San Francisco) and while I thought I would blog throughout my trip and definitely when I returned, I got lazy. I enjoyed my vacation sightseeing with my cousin, eating & shopping with my hubby, and spending time with my mom and stepdad. Unfortunately, today was spent doing laundry and catching up some shows that I missed.

I will be blogging about my trip and posting photos throughout the week but I do have a full week ahead of me. I have to get some bubble tea with Maureen - it's been ages since I saw her and we need to start planning the holiday parties we will be attending and shcedule our next movie date. I have to write a couple of letters, mail out my giveaway to the winner, Elisse and prepare a package for a special someone in Texas (you know who you are!). I also have to think about what I am going to bake for hugTO's Cookies and Champagne party and also what kind of gloves I am sending to my Cold hands, Warm hearts swap partner. On top of this, I am scared to see what is waiting on my desk and in my work inbox and I'm also going to a young lawyer's pub night on Wednesday.  WOW!!! So bear with me. I may be a little slow in getting posts out but it will get done eventually. I hope all you readers have been doing well and I miss all of you!!!!

Blog Friend Friday: Meet Koree from Unveiled

I met the lively Koree from Unveiled through Becca's blog - Becca is her sister-in-law. Koree is a creative one who opened up her own etsy shop selling hair accessories. We share a love for So You Think You Can Dance and hopefully one day, she will teach me a thing or two about football.

1) When and why did you start blogging?
I started blogging in the middle of November in 2008, but didn't become serious about blogging until a year later (November, 2009). I really like journaling, but I have so much to say that my hand seems to get tired. HA! I wanted a way to organize my thoughts and daily happenings in a structured and pretty way. I still have journals that I write in, though. There's just something so personal about journals.

2) Where do you live?
I live in a little town in Missouri between Springfield and Branson.

3) What do you do for a living and what do you do in your spare time when you are not blogging?
I'm currently employed at Ozarks Technical Community College. I work as a lab monitor in the IT department. In December I will be quitting and heading to college! When I'm not blogging I like to make hair accessories (http://www.etsy.com/shop/koreeunveiled), watch The Office, listen to music, and hang out with friends.

4) What is your favorite website to visit daily?
Facebook. I'm not the only addict, am I?

5) What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
I love Colorado. I have a lot of family that lives there. Everywhere you look, everything is pretty! I love the mountains, the thin air, and the coolness of the wind. I went on a ski trip with some friends a little over two years ago. It was so much fun!
6) Name your top three favorite songs.
I'm going to be a rebel. Here are three of my new favorite songs:
Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars
King of Anything by Sara Bareilles
Club Can't Handle Me by Flo Rida

Here are three of my all-time favorite songs:
Electric Feel by MGMT
Truly, Madly, Deeply by Savage Garden
I Will Follow You Into The Dark by Death Cab For Cutie

John Travolta. Fo sho....and Columbus Short.

8) What's your favorite drink?
Sweet Peach Tea from Sonic. Hecks yeah!

9) What is your latest obsession?
The Merry Mushroom collection from the 1970s. I think it is so awesome! I'm trying to start collecting the set, but I realize that's going to be a little difficult since I'm going away to college in the Spring!
...Oh, and I've recently become an addict of Fantasy Football.

10) What would your last meal be?
Breakfast burritos from McDonalds! YUMMY.

Blog Friend Friday: Meet Lin from Linny's Vault

Lin and I share a mutual love for Sons of Anarchy and it's how we connected through our blogs. We also share a love for celebrity gossip! Lin has a number of great series on her blog such as Favorite Movie Tuesday and Celebrity Saturday. Be sure to check out her blog, Linny's Vault.

1) When and why did you start blogging?
I started blogging in June 2009 and I can honestly say I started because I was bored. I needed a hobby & since I suck at sports (I really do) I thought spilling my guts & ranting about things online would better suit me...and it did.

2) Where do you live?
Bright & sunny Southern California...the desert part. I recently made the switch from ocean weather to desert weather, and I questioning my decision to do so everytime I see the thermastat read 101 degrees.
3) What do you for a living and what do you do in your spare time when you are not blogging?
I pay the bills by working for the "man".  It's a lot of reading/correcting reports on the computer & making office small talk, good times *sarcasm*. And, when I'm not glued to my laptop because of blogging I'm usually catching up on all of the tv shows that have piled up in my DVR or reading a really good mystery book. Yes, I'm a bit of hermit :)
4) What is your favorite website to visit daily?
I'm a huge celebrity gossip fan so I make sure to visit Dlisted every morning for my morning dose of hollywood gossip.
5) What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
This one's easy...Las Vegas! I only live 3.5 hours away from it & the hubs & I head over there every chance we get (which sadly hasn't been recently). I love the fact that there's always something to do (no matter what time it is), you can drink all day, there's tons & tons of stores to shop at & they have the best buffets I've ever been to.

6) Name your top three favorite songs
1) Tears In Heaven {Eric Clapton} 2) Hotel California {Eagles} 3) Please Dont Leave Me {Pink}
7) Who is your favorite celebrity to stalk?
All of them! Well, with the exception of Justin Bieber, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan & Kim Kardashian. I honestly could care less about what they're doing.
8) What's your favorite drink?
Cherry Pepsi...yum.
9) What is your latest obsession?
Twitter. I'm constantly tweeting the most random things. My husband has actually had to take my phone away from me just so I'd pay attention to the outside world lol. It's bad...I need help.
10) What would your last meal be?
My husbands speghetti with homemade meat & cheese sauce. It's so good I always make sure to put some away for the next couple of days. Although, in all honesty I end up eating it all  way before the "next couple of days", lol.

excuse my absence

Sorry that I haven't posted in a couple of days. I've been lazy. I have post ideas but I just have no patience to sit and write. So...today's post will be a mismash of random things. I hope you are having a good week so far, Happy Hump Day!

San Francisco, Here we come. One of the reasons I have been absent from my blog is I am trying to get ready for my trip to California. The hubby and I will be staying two days in San Francisco (and staying with a cousin) and then six days in San Jose (staying with my mom and stepdad). If you are from the area or have visited the Bay area, please feel free to leave a comment with suggestions of what I should do while I am there. The line up so far - Alcatraz, Ferry Building Marketplace, Ghirardelli Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Montrery Aquarium, Winchester Mystery House and not to forget some shopping - Union Square, Gilroy Outlets, Trader Joe's and Target. One last thing, I will also gladly accept restaurant recommendations!

hug TO Cookies and Champagne Party. You have probably heard me mention Lisa from The Hip + Urban Girl's Guide. I have met up with her a couple of times and she asked me to guest post for her blog earlier this month. She's a super sweet girl and has a knack for throwing awesome social events. If you live in Toronto, you must sign up for their upcoming event, Cookies and Champagne. It's a great way to meet new people and take home loads of cookies. If you are not a baker, no need to worry, you can register for just the networking event.  I got my ticket, do you have yours? Sign up soon!

Glee - Never Been Kissed. How awesome was last night's episode? I thought the Britney and Duets episode was pretty good but this one is up there in my al-time favorites. The rendition of Teenage Dream was beyond words, I actually need to watch it again and then maybe a couple times more. The girl's mash up was sexy but I found the boy's mash up was lacking.

My new favorite tunes. I can't get enough of Robyn's Dancing on my Own. I first heard the Deadmua5 remix at one of the MTV musics awards show and then I heard it again on last week's episode of Gossip Girl (remember the sexy piano scene with Chuck & Blair?). I listen to this song on repeat all the way on my commute into work. Another song that I keep on playing is Far East Movement's Girls on the Dance Floor. I know people are not too thrilled about this Asian group but I like their songs, they are quite catchy. Plus, the beats just make me want to get up and dance (well, maybe just chair dance - I am old, I no longer dance in public).

Restaurant Story. Every now and again, I find an iPhone game that I get so involved in. This past week it's been Restaurant Story.  It's very much like City Story, Tap Farm, Tap Store...you get it...I am beginning to think I enjoy games where you must lock a new level. It's like the anticipation and opening of a Christmas/birthday present.

Well, that's it from me. I will continue packing tonight and schedule a few blog posts before I leave and hopefully, I will get a chance to blog while I am on my trip. Before you leave my blog, don't forgot to enter my giveaway, it closes this Friday.

Sunday, November 7, 2010

early on a sunday morn...

The hubby and I are up early. We have actually been up since around 7:00 am and have been on our computer since. We are searching for new wallpaper for our desktop and things to do when we reach San Francisco on Friday while listening to slow jam mixes (Chapter 1 and Chapter 2). Mike is amazed at the amount of slow jams I know and even went as far as calling me old.

We are up early because we pretty much went to sleep before midnight. I hate to admit this but we turned off all the lights in our condo and shut the blinds so our neighbor would think we were either sleeping or out. She invited us to go to a bar by our place but both of us were not in the mood. The last time our neighbors went out, we bailed. As much as we really want to hang out with them, I am just exhausted from working the past two weekends. I purposely made no plans so I could rest and REST is what I did.

Here's what I did all weekend:

  • Knitting - I am making an infinity scarf for my co-worker. I am a little rusty seeing that it's been a year since I have knit anything. It took me an hour just to cast on properly.
  • Catching up on Google reader - two weeks ago, I had 300+ to go through. I am proud to say, I have it down to 44 posts to read.
  • Playing City Story, Restaurant Story and Jojo's Fashion Show 2 on my iPhone - I really should be playing games on my Nintendo DS since I went crazy when it broke last year and had to buy a new one. It's just so hard to download games for it.
  • Read the October issue of InStyle - there's some great articles and outfits in this issue. If I hurry up, I can read November's before December arrives.
  • Watched movies - This Christmas, Ramona and Beezus and Step Up 2.

If you live in the Toronto area, check out Benefit's event at Holt Renfrew Yorkdale. With any purchase of $50 or more, you get a gift of three full-size products - SugarBomb, That Gal and Stay Don't Stray. Check out Benefit Cosmetics to find out more information on these products.

What did you do this weekend?

Fill in the Blank Friday (Hair Edition)

    1.   My last haircut was October 12th. I only get trims and refuse to cut my hair until I am pregnant. It's my running joke, everyone will know that I am pregnant when I cut my hair short.

    2.  My most daring hair moment was
when I had really, really long hair. I chopped it all off, practically to a pixie cut and dyed it blonde. This was back in 2001. I recently showed my hairstylist the before and after photo and he was pretty shocked. Even though he was the one that cut and coloured it, he didn't remember at all. Now he can't wait for the day that I come into the salon and say "Chop it all off!"

    3.  A hairstyle I'd never be brave enough to try is a shaved head. I have pretty much had everything - long hair, short hair, pixie, bob, the "Rachel", angled bob, layers, curly, straight, bangs, side bangs, middle part, side part, etc...I don't think there is anything I haven't done.

    4.  I've always dreamt of being a (blonde, brunette or red-head) red-head, although I have had as red of hair as an Asian can get. I have had blonde, brown, black, blonde with red streaks, black with red streaks. Again, I have had every colour I can think of.

    5.  My go-to hair do is a high loose bun piled on the top of my head. All my hair is out of my face.

    6.  My biggest hair disaster was when I permed it. It just doesn't work for my type of hair.

    7.  A hairstyle I am dying to try is
a double french braid, twisted at the back. Oh wait, my mom did do this for me for a wedding last year.

    8.  My best hair day was early this year when I decided to cut bangs and dye my hair black. It's the photo that is under the About Me tab on my blog.

    9.  The worst hairstyle I ever had was when I was in grade four. I had a boy haircut with a rat's tail.

    10.  My hair is your typical Asian hair - long, straight and very fine.
I am sorry that I don't have any photos to share with you. I have had so many hairstyles and colours but all of them are hardcopy photos.  Maybe in a future post, I will scan photos and then you can see what I am talking about.

Blog Friend Friday: Meet Maureen from a little rough around the edges

     Maureen & I @ my stagette - May 2006

Where do I begin with Maureen??? I have known this girl since high school. We weren't enemies, we weren't friends...we said hi to each other and had mutual friends. Now fast forward a couple of years, you would have found me begging her nicely to drive my drunk friends back to Mississauga from Power Bar (a nightclub) because I still didn't have my licence and no one was sober enough to drive home. I remembered that she lived in the same area and being the nice girl she is, she drove all of back to a donut shop so all the boyfriends of the girls could pick them up. Fast forward a few years more and you will find me hanging out with her more because she was friends with my soon-to-be husband. After this, we began partners-in-crime, hitting every club together. Nowadays, you will find us at the movie theatre or going for bubble tea almost every week.

Maureen has slowly inched her way back into the blogging world but came with full force. Check out her blog, a little rough around the edges. She uses her blog as an outlet for what's on her mind.

    1) When and why did you start blogging?
i started blogging years ago, but stopped for a couple of years. then became an on & off blogger over a year ago and most recently an active blogger for almost 2 months now and plan on sticking with it. i started blogging because in real life i'm not the most expressive when it comes to my feelings. sure i'm social, loud and at times annoying, but i never really reveal any true details of why i may be feeling down or even why i'm feeling extremely happy. blogging is my forum to help me release things i normally would not mention. in my old blog, i was always cryptic. now i'm all about the "f*ck it!" attitude. everything is going on my blog... happy, sad, annoying and any other randoms in between.

    2) Where do you live?

    Toronto in Ontario, Canada... woooo!
    3) What do you for a living and what do you do in your spare time when you are not blogging?
i'm a Marketing Specialist in the gaming (ahem, also known as gambling) industry, but we're regulating by the Government, so it's alllll goooood... in my spare time i body jam (workout class), yoga, particpate in other social networking forms, spend time with friends and family and travel here and there.

    4) What is your favorite website to visit daily?

lately, it's expedia. on a more consistent basis it's twitter and facebook.

    5) What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
i love to travel, but have yet to find my favorite vacation spot. some of my destinations have been... Hawaii, Punta Cana, El Salvador, Paris, Amsterdam, Germany, Belgium, Holland, San Jose, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Miami, Vancouver... i have had repeated visits to Vancouver, Vegas and Miami, but i think the most memorable vacation was Punta Cana (for your wedding, Leesh!).

    6) Name your top three favorite songs.
what, only 3??? 1) "Find You Love" by Drake. i'm still not sick of this song! 2) "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden. this is the ex's influence. 3) "Sexy Love" by Ne-yo. this is my forever jam...

    7) Who is your favourite celebrity to stalk?

i actually don't stalk celebrities, but i do tend to be giddy when i watch a movie with Josh Duhamel in it or Ryan Reynolds' abs.

    8) What's your favorite drink?

an ice cold pint of Rickards White baby!

    9) What is your latest obsession?
this is bad to say, but drinking alcohol and Trevor. if you read my blog then you understand who Trevor is to me.

    10) What would your last meal be?
i'd say salmon sashimi, spider roll, seaweed salad, thin crust mushroom pizza, lumpia shanghai with sweet chilli sauce, some really good pad thai, something good with shrimp, moco loco, macadamia nut ice cream topped with sugar syrup sprinkled with crushed kona coffee, some really good mini cupcakes and let's throw in some freshly baked, yummy, cute mini donuts. (you said this is my LAST meal, so i went all out!)

A list of quirks (by my hubby)

Over the weekend while we were staying over at our friend's house, my hubby decided to make a list of my quirks. It really ended up being his bitchfest about certain things I do. I will leave out his complaints and just list what he said were my quirks. My friend Kat, found this exercise hilarious, so she asked her hubby to list her quirks. Read about it on her blog, Mindless Drivl. If you and your hubby (other significant other) want play along, blog about it and link it up in a comment.

*Having to check with the host of a party we are invited to if they have a cat. I am terrified of them and refuse to be anywhere near one.

*Closing eyes when a cat commercial comes on. Yup, scared to death of cats, I don't even want to look at one.

*To cool off, I won't dunk my whole head in the ocean or pool. I hate water in my ears so I will dip my hair/back of my head in the water but I make sure no water will gets in my ear.

*Rubbing my feet to put myself to sleep. It relaxes me and puts me to sleep...so what?

*Gagging at the sight and smell of sandwiches. I hate deli meat and the sight of sandwiches makes me want to barf.

*Unable to eat meat of a bone. A t-bone steak, pork chop, chicken breast, etc...I would have to cut all the meat off first and dispose the bone before eating, actually my mom would remove the meat off for me. Now that I don't live with her, I just avoid eating meat off a bone all togther. Actually I don't eat red meat or pork anymore so I don't have much of a problem. I can for most of the time eat chicken wings but sometimes I get grossed out by them.

*Won't eat fruit unless it's cut into pieces for me. Pineapple, peaches, apples, strawberries, kiwis, etc. I know this is a weird one but it's the only way I will eat fruit. My coworker cuts my apple and peach for me. Thank goodness she's understanding and doesn't think I am strange.

*Announcing and going to the washroom about ten million times before boarding a plane. I announce it so my hubby knows where I am going and I only go to pee about seven times before I board a plane. It's not my fault I have a small bladder.

*Holding new babies. I am scared of holding newborns. I won't hold a baby until they are three months old. It's my new baby rule.

    Are these silly or what?

    Really? Three months???

When my mom had her retirement party back in the end of July, asides from making her giveaways, I offered to take photos at the party. She told me that her "planning committee" had a volunteer from her office who would be photographer for the night. With that said, I didn't bother to bring my camera...well, I should have.

After three months, I finally receive a copy of the photos. My mom has already left for California and has already settled in. I will be bringing them to her when we go to visit in less than two weeks. This morning, I quickly glanced through them. Not only are there very little photos, they are kinda crappy. There were so many other people there and my mom won't have a everlasting photo with them. I couldn't even find one with just me and my mom. I totally regret not bringing my own camera to at least get a shot with my mom, stepdad and Mike.

Anyway, here's a photo of Maureen, Lyn and I.

And here is the only photo that my mom and I are in together. I like to call the guy between my mom and I, HW. It's a nickname I gave him and only Maureen and Julie know what it stands for. If you want to know what it stands for, you will have to ask me.

I am going to invest in a really thin camera I can take with me wherever I go. My iPhone doesn't take the best photos and I feel like now a days, I want to capture every moment of my life. I am looking to spend under $150 since we already have a great camera at home.

Any suggestions to what camera I should buy?

    Monday Memories: Sandwiches

Today's memory is a silly one. It's a memory from my childhood which I am sure my mom and aunt will get a kick out of. See, for whatever reason when I was in kindergarten, my mom would pack me a sandwich for my lunch. Boy, did I ever detest sandwiches. So, on the ride to school, I would take it out of my bag and hide if under the front seat of the car. A few smelly days later, my parents would find the sandwiches under the seat due to the stench in the car. I was young so little did I know that the sandwiches would mold.

To this day, I still hate sandwiches, well, cold ones with deli meat. I am okay with paninis or hot sandwiches. My coworkers know that I don't like them or that I can't stand the smell so I am extremely grateful they are understanding and don't let me near catering when sandwiches are involved.
