March confessions

I never use to shop at The Gap but these days I find myself always buying clothes there especially on Wednesdays when I have a 40% coupon. I feel more grown up when I wear Gap clothes.

I jumped for joy when Russell lost the challenge at Redemption Island but then felt really bad for him when he started crying. I also think the permanent resident of Redemption Island, Matt, is pretty damn hot when he pulls his hair back in a man bun or ponytail (I think Matt looks like an actor or singer but I can't put my finger on it, can anyone help me?). Yup, I am talking about Survivor and yes, I still watch it.

I've never had a Filet-o-Fish and just a couple of days ago, I had my first one ever. I love the bun, it looks like a doughnut and I simply want to pet it but the sandwich as a whole, it's all right. I will eat it every once in a while.

It's been almost three years since my brother died and I still can't watch movie scenes when someone stands on a ledge or jumps off from a building. I have to close my eyes qne I did a lot of this during Inception. Now I get why everyone told me not to watch it.

My team for March Madness is UConn. I've made them my team because I thought it was actaully YUKON and that's where I'm from. Silly me for thinking this.

I really want McDonalds to bring back McPizza. Do you remember when they served pizza? Wasn't it amazing?

Sephora by OPI: High Maintenance

This week's colour, High Maintenance is very similar to last week but instead of the coral hue, this is more red. It matches the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine I bought two weeks ago in Rebelle. I like this colour but you definitely have to wear it with short nails, otherwise, it looks too trashy.

Nail tip #10
Dip dehydrated nails in warm olive oil for two minutes once a week. This soak dramatically softens even the driest cuticles.

Music Monday: In heavy rotation

Till the World Ends, Britney Spears

Dress and Tie, Charlene Kaye and Darren Criss

He Won't Go, Adele (and Someone Like You, Rolling in the Deep, Set Fire to the Rain)

Your Love is like Magic, JRDN

My husband hates that I like this JRDN song but I find it catchy, plus, I like cheesy pop. He also tells me that he's Canadian so is there anything wrong with supporting homegrown talent (lol!)

Of course, I am also addicted to the LFMAO song, party Rock Anthem but I already posted that video in an earlier post.  I hear Chris Brown's album is pretty good, as well as Britney's. I need to upload my iPod right this minute.

Fill in the Blank Friday (this was a tough one)

Happy Friday lovelies! I hope you have an exciting weekend planned out. Unfortunately for me, I have to work tomorrow but at least I get to enjoy a nice dinner with my hubby, hipurbangirl Lisa and her hipurbanhubby, Paul. As usual, it's time for fill in the blanks.

1.  My most prized possession is I don't really know. I am drawing a blank.

2.  If I could be one age for the rest of my life, I would want to be in my mid-20's. It was fun to be carefree, still living at home and working a full-time job to make money to blow on stupidness. I could come and go as I please, I had no financial responsibilities and could still work hard and play hard. Now I just work hard and play less.

3.  The best way to spend a weekend is chilling at home watching movies or reading all day. I did a lot of this in the month of January but as soon as the weather warms up, I hope to be more social and hanging out with friends.

4.  My outlook on life is it is what you make it. Right now I am coasting and I shouldn't be. I am still young so I should try and seek out my dream job. I am still childless so I should go out and have fun. Life is too short so you need to go out and live it. I may not do much but I am glad that Mike and I vacation more often than we should. That's the one thing we decided on - to live in a smaller place so we can spend our paycheck vacationing.

5.  If you want to annoy me, just be stupid and have no common sense.

6.  I am completely defenseless when it comes to sales. I will spend money that I don't really have because I can't pass up a good sale.

7.  When dressing for the day one should always look at the weather channel. This morning I left the house with a 3/4 sleeve shirt and am now freezing my butt off. I am totally not dressed for this frigid weather.

chocolate + ____ = ???

For me, "chocolate + peanut butter = heaven" but "chocolate + mint = bliss" and "chocolate + raspberry = yumminess". There are so many chocolate combinations but these three are my favorite.

So, what's your favorite combo? It's your turn to fill in the blank...chocolate + _____ = ________.

Ten on Tuesday: Food!

This is my first time doing Ten on Tuesday and it's from Walking with Nora but really it's via here.

1.  What condiments are always, always in your fridge?
Ketchup and hot mustard. There are probably a bunch of other "Asian" condiments but I can't recall any.

2.   How do you like your steak cooked?  Your burgers?
I don't eat steak or burgers anymore but when I did eat steak, I always had it medium well.

3.  What’s your favorite use for fresh tomatoes?

In a caprese salad or just with mozzarella, basil and some balsamic vinegar.

4.  What’s your go-to dinner when you haven’t planned anything in advance and you don’t feel like going out?
Homemade mac and cheese or some type of pasta or frozen thin crust pizza.

5.  What’s your favorite snack food lately?
Popcorn. My hubby makes the best popcorn.

6.  What’s your favorite weekend breakfast to make at home?
Again my hubby makes really good French toast.

7.  What’s your favorite thing to grill?  How do you do it?
Chicken burgers. We made some last night. I am very thankful that my dad got us a Cuisinart Griddle/Grill for Christmas. It's come in handy for most of our meal. We live in a condo so it's our makeshift BBQ.

8.  What’s your favorite wine for under $10? If you’re not a wine person, what brand of beer is your favorite?
I don't really like wine. I am a totally beer drinker. I like Bud Light Lime, Stella Artois Light, Mill Street Organic and Fruli (as Strawberry beer).

9.  Give us your most delicious cocktail recipe.
Mojitos or mimosas. If you want a mocktail, ginger ale and cranberry juice. I make these mocktails for my co-workers when we are stressed out. It's to pretend we are having an actual cocktail.

10.  How do you like your eggs?
Overhard. I need my eggs fried with the yolk broken and cooked well done.

This was fun. I love talking about food. Thanks Nora!

Sephora by OPI: Special Request

It's been a while since I painted my nails and I was quite excited to give myself a manicure. This week's shade is Special Request and I must say, it's a beautiful colour. Almost orange but more on the coral side. This will be my summer go-to colour for my toes.

Nail tip #9
Don't shake your bottle of polish before applying-you'll create air bubbles. Instead, gently roll between your palms.

Fill in the Blank Friday (on Saturday morning)

I was off yesterday and spent the day doing Pilates and walking around the mall. By the time I got home and cooked dinner, I was exhausted. After dinner, I watched Battle Royale because my husband said that he thinks The Hunger Games was based on this Japanese movie...and yup, he was correct. The same concept but Battle Royale has much more gore. With The Hunger Games, the killing is there but it's more about the love story. Now that I have finished the Suzanne Collin's trilogy, I have to move onto the next book so I picked up, One Day and City of Bones (my sister-in-law heard about this book). Looks like I will be reading for most of tomorrow. Now for Fill in the Blank Friday, written on a Saturday since I was lazy yesterday.

1. The best deal I've ever gotten is black suede over the knee boots from Cole Haan. My hubby used his discount and I only paid $87 for them. They are awesome. Actually anything I get from Cole Haan is a great deal, it's probably why I have 8+ bags from them.

2. If I were hosting a dinner party and could invite people from my fantasy guest list it would include Brody Jenner (for eye candy with those gorgeous eyelashes), Rachel Zoe (for styling tips), Lauren Conrad (just cause she's cool), Kelly Cutrone (for entertainment factor), Robin Thicke (for music), Susur Lee (to cook), Just Jared (to talk about celebrity gossip) and Kobe Bryant (to talk about sports, haha, I just threw that in there). Can I have a house party instead because there are so many I would want to invite.

3. Something that inspires me is
magazines. I love looking through them and discovering colour combination,  jewelry, hairstyles, outfits...

4. If I could only choose to eat one flavor of food for the rest of eternity (sweet, salty, spicy, bitter....) I would have to go with salty. Normally I would say sweet but like Lauren mentioned, sweet could get tiring after awhile. I have a question, we will get water to drink at least? With each flavour you definitely need some water.

5. I dream about bad, scary things most of the time. Just ask my husband. I probably have a nightmare every two weeks - the kind where I wake up sweating and screaming.

6. My weekend will be spent sleeping over at our friend's house who have three little boys. We don't get to see them often so when we do see them, we sleep over to maximize our visit. I will also spend tomorrow reading the new book I got.

7. If I could only watch one movie or TV show for the rest of my life, it would be
a toss up between Sex and the City or Beverly Hills, 90210 for a TV show and The Devil Wears Prada for a movie.

Everyday I'm Shufflin' - Party Rock Anthem

I can't get enough of this song, especially when I am watching the video. Seeing everyone shuffling brings me to an extreme good mood. This video needs to be played every morning while getting ready for work. Maybe it will make me in less of a grumpy mood!

Last night when I was out for bubble tea with Mike, Reg and Maur, we couldn't stop talking about the video and poor Maur was so upset that she didn't know what we were talking about.

What song is putting you in a a good mood?

What I'm into these days...

Sorry that I haven't been up to speed on blog posts or even blog reading. After practically working 10 days straight, I have a long weekend coming up. I am off on Friday and plan to treat myself to a massage and maybe a movie. It's my "me" day and I am going to do whatever I want to do - blog reading and commenting will definitely be on my list. I have to see what my favorite bloggers are up to. Also, I noticed that I have a few new readers/followers. Welcome and thanks for reading my blog. So, I thought that I would ease my way back to blogging by letting you know what I'm kinda digging these days.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine. My BFF, Julie was looking for a new bright orange lipstick and we tried to look for one at the Chanel counter and came across their new line, Coco Shine. These lipsticks are perfect for spring because of its shine/sheer factor (not the usual thick matte kind of lipstick we tend to wear in the winter) and the colour selection. Most of the shades are neutral pinks and peaches, but you know me, I had to buy the brightest in the bunch, Rebelle (see above photo). I am planning to go back and buy some lighter shades for spring - I can't remember all the colours but I remember one of them is Liberté.

Long and Lean jeans from GAP. Long gone are my skinny jeans/jeggings. Just kidding. I will still wear them but I am bringing in for the spring, wide-leg jeans. I'm not totally ready for the super flared jeans but I will start off with the long and lean jeans. Next step or purchase will be these.

The Hunger Games. Wow, wow, wow...why didn't I listen to all the bloggers earlier who raved about this book. The lovely, Ilene from much love, Illy, loved the book so much, she did a giveaway of the first book in the series. I should have just bought the book but I waited to see if I would win a copy.  Now after Mayra from life is bananas blogged about it, I knew I had to get my hands on the book and find out what all the hype is about. I immediately blogged and tweeted about my love and obsession for the book and now that I have also read Catching Fire and Mockingjay, I am having serious withdrawals. I am thinking about reading The Hunger Games again to get my fix but then again, I can always wait for the movie to come out. Seriously people, if you haven't read the books...what are you waiting for??? On a side note, I just read an article that Hunter Parrish has met with producers for the role of Peeta. I can totally see this guy playing Peeta.

Peanut Butter Mini Cupcake, Red Velvet Whoopie Pie and Salted Caramel Sweet Square

Starbucks Petites. I have a thing for sweets and if it's under 200 calories and under $2.00, I am all for it. I will eat these petite goodness in the morning, noon or night. I have tried the above and also the lemon square (this is my least favorite). The yummiest one so far - Salted Caramel Sweet Square, in my opinion.

Friendship bracelets. My BFF, Stfne made me these adorable bracelets. She's a doll huh? I have been wearing them almost everyday, either a single one or stacked like in the photo.

What are you into these days?

What Wednesday (courtesy of my mom)

You know what is adorable? When your mom calls to ask if everything is okay because she noticed I haven't blog in several days. How cute is that? Well, I am not being lazy nor have I cut myself out from the blogging world. I have been busy with work and when I get home, I have been wrapped in the 2nd and 3rd book to The Hunger Games (Catching Fire and Mockingjay) and the past couple of days I have been falling asleep at 9:30 am. So, to honour my mom and her cuteness, I am going to participate in her What Wednesday and answer the questions she posted on her blog (if you want to participate, feel free and maybe link up your blog post in her comments).

1. What's in your purse? This might end up being a paragraph...what don't I have in my purse? Off the top of my head - wallet, iPhone, skullcandy headphone, work pass, day planner, note book, pencil case, bag of snacks (peppermint bark, sour patch kids and halls), coupon wallet, lipstick x5, roll-on perfume, vaseline, hand dream, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour cream, Mockingjay book, coin purse, go pass, tissue, lip balm, mirror/brush, keys, Colgate wisps, nail file - wow, no wonder my bag is so heavy!!!

2. What's in the trunk of your car? Nothing because I don't drive therefore I don't have a car.

3. What's your top 10 app on your phone? Echofon, Read It Later, MobileRSS, Goodreads, aNote, Bakery Story, TripAdvisor, OpenTable, Vevo, and Fruit Ninja.

4. What perfume is in your bathroom cabinet? I don't wear perfume but I do carry a perfume roll-on from Pacifica in Lotus Garden (in from US Sephora).

5. What 5 radion station do you listen in your car? Again, I don't drive, I take public transit so I listen to my iPhone.

6. What are your cleaning buddies? Scrubbing bubbles, Method Wood for Good almond scent, Windex, Slatkin & Co fabric refresher in Spring Meadow and good old comet.

7. What's under your kitchen sink? Cleaning products, plastic bags and recycling bags.

8. What's in your snack basket? Coconut M&M's, Peanut Butter M&M's and Peanut Butter Snickers.

9. What ice cream is in your freezer? Some old ice cream that we really should throw out. I bought it because I thought it would taste good but it didn't.

10. What's in your liquor cabinet? Lots of wine, Limoncello and Bacardi and Appleton Rums.

That's it guys...I am off to Ottawa for work tomorrow. Sorry I haven't been blogging much but I hope to be back in full force when I return. Have an awesome weekend (Think of me while you are having fun, I'll be working all weekend).

shuffle.

My fellow bloggers, Dolce Vita, Royal Mail and Bicoastally all have posted their first 25 songs that appear when they hit shuffle on their iPod. I thought I would give it a go too. I am almost a little embarrassed of what I have on my iPod because I am total a teenbopper at heart. I have almost no grown up music.

Fill in the Blank Friday

Every Friday when Lauren's Fill in the Blank Friday blog post comes into my google reader, I breath a sigh of relief knowing that my weekend is about to begin. I am really going to enjoy this weekend because next week I will be in Ottawa working 14 hour days. This next week is going to be hell week so I am going to savour every last drop of this weekend. Have a good one bloggies!

1. The phrase or punctuation I overuse most is
"it's  funny..." and also "...". I think I also use "like" a lot. Once a valley girl, always a valley girl.

2. Today I am thankful for
my books finally arriving today. I ordered Catching Fire and Mockingjay after finishing The Hunger Games last weekend. Since it's going to rain over weekend (I think), I am going to read all day tomorrow.

3. My best friend is my husband, I married him after all, didn't I? I know I can always count on him to cheer me up, go on vacation with him and have an awesome time and I know he will stick with me until the end. But I have girlfriends who are also my best friend. Julie because she knows all my secrets, Stfne because she's my role model, Mare because she's like my sister and Maureen because she's my partner-in-crime. I can also count on these girls to cheer me up, give me a shoulder to cry on, lend me an ear when I need to vent and they will also stick with me until the end.

4. A quirky thing about me is
I have to get someone to cut fruit for me so I'll eat it. I'm not a princess, I am just use to my parents cutting it for me. Luckily my husband wants me to eat more fruit so he slices apples for me.

5. This weekend I plan to
drink and eat with some friends, read the above said books tomorrow and attend my godson's 2nd birthday party and also my BFF's baby shower on Sunday.

6. Something that worries me is my other BFF, who just had her baby girl last Wednesday. Her little one had open heart surgery two days ago and suffered a cardiac arrest but was saved by the doctors. She's in critical condition right now. My heart goes out to my BFF, their little girl and the rest of the family. Please keep this little girl in your prayers.

7. On my night stand you would find a bottle of water, books I never seem to read, an alarm clock I don't use, a lamp, my Nintendo DS, my fake plastic tiara and wand, Bath and Body Works Sleep pillow mist and more stuff I should really get rid of. My night stand sounds big but it's not. There's just a lot of junk on it.

Sephora by OPI: Caliente Coral

I missed a week in my challenge but I had to give my nails a break. Having them painted all the time ruins my nails so I let them rest. This week's polish is a bright, true orange, Caliente Coral. I like it! It totally lifts my spirits and brightens my day. Two coats and I was good to go unlike some of the other colours that required me to apply three coats.

Nail tip#8
Dry nails in a flash by sticking hands in the freezer or a bowl of ice for a minute.

February Confessions

Drake's singing voice in Fireworks with Alicia keys is kinda sexy.

Steven R. McQueen is getting pretty sexy on Vampire Diaries. It's making me tune in every week. Too bad the show's on hiatus until April 7.

A friend told me that I should think more positive, so I'm trying and hopefully good things will happen for me.

I met Maureen's new boyfriend and he's really cool. I'm hoping this one lasts.

I've been too busy to blog but I'm trying. Also haven't tried hard enough to keep in touch with friends. I guess I'm stuck in that winter rut and am being anti-social.

I haven't been managing my money properly. Maybe I need an iPhone app to help me but I think I may have a solution.

I miss wearing lipstick. I have a very bad dry patch above my lip. It's forever chapped and red throughout the winter so I wear nothing but lip balm and Vaseline on my lips.

I read The Hunger Games over the weekend and I'm obsessed. I haven't been this into a book since Twilight and Chelsea Handler's books.
