After watching Never Say Never, I am officially a BELIEBER. I am not gonna hate on the kid anymore because he really is talented and he did struggle to get where he is today. I thought it was Usher who found him on You Tube but that's not the case. Watch the movie to find out how it really went down.

Cheese is my enemy (or frenemy). As much as I want to be friends with cheese, it backstabs me and hurts me like no one has before. Cheese tempts me with its goodness on pizza but later just upsets me.

I keep wanting to add more lipsticks to my collection. I'm still eyeing YSL Volupté Sheer Candy. I also recently bought a red lipstick but I cheaped out and bought Rimmel in Alarm. When will this lipstick madness stop?

I'm kinda crushing on Michael Copon. I thought he was cute as Felix on One Tree Hill but what now makes him cuter is he read my tweet to him and actually responded!

I did one of Tracy Anderson's workouts from You Tube and I've come to realize I'm so uncoordinated. I look awkward trying to follow the exercises which is making me now believe I must look awkward when I dance.

The end of this month has been difficult for me. I've been missing my brother like crazy. Mike thinks it's because I wore G's favorite sweater one day. It's almost three years ago that he passed away and I thought that time heals the pain...it does in a way but as time goes on, I just miss him so much more.

this or that on a sunday afternoon

Today is going to be filled with ironing and packing. I leave for Punta Cana next Sunday but my mom will be coming for a month long visit and she arrives while I am away. So after I start to pack, I need to clean my place since this week I will be busy getting my bangs trimmed, eyebrows waxed and toes painted. I'm taking a little break to blog - I found a little "this or that" to answer over at Livin' on Sweet Tea.

1. would you rather go on a picnic or to a bbq? 
BBQ. Picnic usually involves cold food and I am not down for that.

2. would you rather go bra-less or panty-less?
Probably bra-less. Sometimes I wish I was more flat-chested so I could go without a bra 90% of the time.

3. would you rather go on a $5000 shopping spree at your favorite store or go on a $5000 vacation?
This is a tough one but I will go with $5000 on a vacation.

4. would you rather eat escargot or sauteed crickets?
Escargot, as long as it's prepared in that fancy escargot dish.

5. would you rather go on survivor or the amazing race?
Survivor so I can lose some weight but I know I definitely won't last the first couple of days.

6. would you rather be hot or cold?
I rather be hot. After the horrible winter we had and with spring not here yet, I will take HOT any day.

7. would you rather go to the beach or lake?
Beach for sure. I am a beach junkie for life.

8. would you rather not shave your legs for a month in the summer or your armpits?
I rather not shave my legs for a month in the summer. I don't have much leg hair and when they do grow out, they are very thin hairs. I can't deal with armpit hair. It's gross on women.

Asian Sensation: Las Vegas...here we come!!!

Earlier this year, or maybe it was even last year, six of us decided to do a blogger meet up and we dubbed it Asian Sensation 2011. This blogger meet up will consist of:

I didn't want to blog about it until I knew it was really happening. Maureen and I were the last to book so now that it's all confirmed, it's time to post something about it. Maureen, Kat and Steph are from Toronto, Reni is from Portland and Elisse is from Vancouver.

*I met Maureen back in high school and even though we didn't hang out then, we became really close friends once I started dating Mike. Maureen is also known as my partner-in-crime. We terrorized the city when we use to go clubbing together.
*I met Kat in our college/University years. I met her because we partied a lot. We lost touch after over partying days were over but have recently connected through our blogs (and twitter). I'm finding we have a lot in common, celebrity crushes, TV shows and even books.
*I met Steph through Kat and Maur and we hung out at bar called Milano's. I grew closer to Steph when she started hanging out with my sister-in-law and we also got reacquainted through our blogs. Steph and I share the same pet peeves and love to make fun of people, ummm, I mean things. lol!
*Now with Elisse and Reni, I met them through blogging. Elisse was one of my first blogger friends. We probably met late 2009, just after I returned from a trip to Vancouver. It would have been nice if I met her before because then I could have met her in real life. I can't remember how I met Reni, it was probably through us commenting on each other's blogs. We found out that we had a lot in common - especially a love for Kobe Bryant.

Asian Sensation is finally happening. You might find us posting a lot about this trip leading up to July, but it's only because we are so excited. We get to party and finally meet each other in real life. I've met other blogger in real life but this is a first for me to travel to another city to meet them. People wonder - "Is it going to be weird to meet people and hang out with them considering you have never met?" - my answer is no. I feel like I really know these girls. I feel like I talk to them more than my real friends because it's like we speak to each other through our blogs and tweets. We get to know more about each other with every post, tweet or email we send. With Elisse and Reni, I feel like I have known them forever. I know that we will all get along because you follow people's blogs for a reason, just like you are friends with your friends for a reason.

perks for my imaginary company

I don't like to talk about work and I am sure most people who read my blog, don't want to read about what I do. But after having a crappy week at work and hearing of my friends also having a hell week, I decided I would write a post about what fun things I would do for my employees if I owned a small company. I believe that small perks and appreciation are the key to a well-run company. These perks are encouragement for employees to work hard and then play hard. Tokens of appreciation creates a fun environment. Happy employees = a successful, productive company.

Here is my list of what I would do for my employees, if I had a company with about 10 employees (some are probably very fun, far-fetch ideas):

• Summer hours - whether it be to work an hour more each day so it would be half day Fridays or a full Friday off every other Friday and definitely every Friday before long weekend, the office would shut down at noon.
• Thristy Thursday (or Friday) once a month - beer, wine and cooler would be served.
• Birthdays - a birthday cake, card and a $100 gift card of their choice.
• Staff Breakfasts - everyone is more happy when they've had a good breakfast so why not start the first day of every month with a buffet breakfast?
• Starbucks card - every employee would get a $25 gift card and it would be reloaded automatically every month.
• Employee fun day - every couple of months, let's say on a Wednesday, the office would organize a fun afternoon outside of the office. Golf, amusement, water park, a Jays game, roller skating, spa, Broadway show, you get the picture...
• Flex hours - you get to choose, 8-4, 9-5, 7-3 and if you want to work longer hours one day, you will have a shorter day the next.
• Team building - this is important. I would bring in some fun team building exercises, like a scavenger hunt or a mock up of Survivor.
• Volunteer Day - it's always good to volunteer at some charity, maybe have the employees pick a charity that means something to them.
• Cool office furniture - in white and turquoise and purple, let's make a fun, working environment with functioning cubicle furniture. I would have cork boards and chalk boards everywhere and lots of cool pens and stationery.
• A trip to Las Vegas - on a really good year when budget has been record numbers, wouldn't a trip to Vegas, all expenses paid be awesome!!?!

It's been close to a year since I last did a post like this, July to be exact. This summer is going to be filled with lots of action packed movies so I should create my list.

I still need to watch Bridesmaids but let's start with this weekend coming up.

May 26, 2011 - The Hangover II -The first one was hilarious, please may the second one be just as funny. One thing that annoys me, I don't know how much I can take with Ken Jeong. I hope he is not in the entire movie.





June 3, 2011 - X-Men: First Class - I am a bit addicted to the X-Men movies and after seeing Wolverine, I must watch every single movie that comes out about these mutants. At least with this movie, I will get some back information about each X-Men. Plus Diamond Girl (aka Emma Frost) is in it and she's my hero!





June 17, 2011 - Green Lantern -Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively is all I have to say. Plus, it's a movie both my hubby and I can watch since our crushes are in it. I have no idea what Green Lantern is about but the graphic novel is sitting on our dining room table. I could educate myself before watching the movie.





June 24, 2011 - Cars 2 -I love how the cars will be going to Japan, kinda reminds me of Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.




June 29, 2011 - Transformers: Dark of the Moon - I'm not a fan of Transformers but since I saw the first two, might as well continue on.





July 22, 2011 - Captain America: The First Avenger - Chris Evans...need I say more (and Stanley Tucci is in it and he's my favorite actor).





July 22, 2011 - Friends with Benefits -Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis...another movie my hubby and I can watch together. He is absolutely in love with Mila, as I with Justin.





July 29, 2011 - Crazy, Stupid, Love - There's something about this movie that makes me want to watch it, and I think it's Ryan Gosling's character. Plus all movies with Steve Carrell are pretty funny.





August 5, 2011 - The Change-Up - Again Ryan Reynolds and although he doesn't look so hot in this movie, I saw the trailer and it looks pretty funny.





August 19, 2011 - One Day - I read this book and I didn't like the book. I thought that I should watch the movie because maybe I will like the movie more than the book. Well, I don't think I will since I just watched the trailer and I already don't like Anne's fake accent. What's funny is while I was reading the book, I kept envisioning Colin Egglesfield as Dex. Is it because he played Dex in Something Borrowed? Anyway, I wish they had casted him instead of Jim Sturgess. I'll still watch the movie to compare book to movie.

victoria day long weekend recap

Before my long weekend comes to an end and I get ready for bed (yes, it's only 8:40 pm), I want to share with you what I did all weekend. I basically did nothing. And it's exactly what I wanted to do since I have to work the next two Saturdays before leaving for Punta Cana.

Friday. I went to my BFF's house after work. It had been some time since I last saw Julie and her beautiful daughter. We, along with the boys, ate a party tray of sushi and sashimi (I forgot to take a pic, we were hungry) and some delicious chocolate raspberry cake. After dinner, I got enough nerve to brave it out and hold Bianca. She's only six weeks old so I totally broke my rule of "I only hold babies once they are over three months old". B totally fit in my arms, she was comfortable to hold and didn't squirm. I was able to rock her to sleep and let her sleep in my arms while I saw on the couch. I wish I had a pic to prove it. I do have this cute photo of her in her bouncy chair.

Saturday. Mike and I spent most of Saturday reading. Me: City of Fallen Angels. Him: The Golden Compass. We did take a break to watch, Just Go with It. It's a very funny movie with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. What I liked was Adam wasn't speaking in that annoying voice like most of his other movies. The little girl who plays the daughter of Jennifer's character is a great child actor. She was brilliant in The Brothers (w/ Tobey McGuire and Jake Gyllenhaal). I then took another break to make some banana muffins.

Sunday. I was going to watch Bridesmaids with Maureen but the time of the movie was all screwed up so we missed it. Instead, we went for Pho and just chatted for a bit. Later in the afternoon we went to my sister-in-law's house to play with Hannah. She's adorable and fun to play with. I love how chubby she is and how she is full of smiles. Oh ya, Belle and Blake were there too! Blake was friendly with us again and Belle was amazed that her Uncle Mick knows how to braid hair.

Later at night, we watched the Billboard Awards. Cee-Lo's performance was awesome. Rihanna and Britney's performance was okay. And yes, I know that Britney is lip-syncing but it's Britney and we love her no matter what, as long as she's sane and not shaving off her head. I have a bone to pick about Beyonce's new song. I honestly hate how she is using Major Lazer's beat from Pon de Floor. I sat there staring at the TV in disgust. I think her song, Run the World would be alright if she used a different beat.

Monday. More reading and more watching movies. I watched Rio. Let me tell you that most of the songs, like Hot Wings, Real in Rio or Mas Que Nada, will make you want to get up and dance. Mike made note that I have watched two movies lately that take place in Rio (this movie and Fast Five). It's making me want to go to Brazil now.

 
I also watched Never Say Never. Yup, don't judge me, I watched the Justin Bieber movie and got me some Bieber Fever. After learning about his life and what he did to get where he is today, I respect him and I respect his mom. Everyone in his circle - manager, vocal coach, general manager, stylist, grandparents, etc - look out for him and keep him grounded and humble. If I didn't see this, I would just think of him as another child star but he worked hard to get where he is today with the help of his mom and Usher. One thing I can't get over is how young his mom looks...but their relationship is a very cute and loving one. So judge me all you want, make fun of me but I actually enjoyed Never Say Never.

bangs: short or long?

I am going to get my bangs trimmed before I go to Punta Cana and I am debating on whether I should keep them long or cut them super short. What do you think?

 I know I have sunglasses on but here I am with short bangs but I would probably cut them shorter.

product review: goody spin pins

After having lunch with my dear friend, Elena, she recommended a hair product that I am deeply in love with. We were talking about how long our hair is now and she noticed that I had my hair up in a bun with an elastic tied around it. She then says to me..."Have you tried those spin pins? They work you know. I use them after I wash my hair. I put my hair in a bun, add the pins and they stay in all night". Now both Elena and I have really thin, long hair so I had to trust her recommendation. The next day I bought them and guess what???  She was right. I can put my hair up in a bun and spin one pin at the top and one at the bottom and it will stay for most of the day.

The spin pins are a corkscrew shape and the look a bit intimidating to use but once you get the hang of it, you will realize they are much easier to use than adding a multitude of bobby pins around your bun. If I can now comfortably wear a low chignon, next up with be a high and big ballerina bun.

the weekend's over already???

My how the weekends go by so quickly. I am waiting for Survivor: Redemption Island to start so I am going to start typing this post and will have to finish it during commercials. Yes, I think I am the only one who still watches this show. There is maybe only one season that I didn't watch and that was because it was boring with lifeless competitors. There was no drama or hotties.

My weekend really consisted of nothing much but watching Fast Five with Maur yesterday. I thought I had all the F&F movies and had planned to watch them last night but we only had Tokyo Drift and Fast & Furious (I need to get The Fast & The Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious). Paul Walker totally had captured my heart. Soon I will have to watch Takers, Blue Crush and She's All That again just to get my fix. Anyway, I watched the fourth installment last night but fell sleep. What's with me falling asleep so early on the weekends?

Today, Mike and I went to the mall to buy some things for when we go to Punta Cana - oops, did I tell you we are going to Punta Cana in three weeks for our 5 year anniversary? Yup, we are staying at Now Larimar, a resort that we went to back in Christmas 2009 but has just been re-branded last month. I can't wait!!! Punta Cana feels like home to us so it will be nice to go back for a visit. No luck in finding trunks and bikinis for our trip but instead I bought these cute shoes...

I keep telling myself, "enough with the flat shoes, I need some heels for Vegas" but these comfy flats, I just couldn't pass up. So, do you like them? Aren't they cute? Guess what...they are CROCS!!! That's right, those ugly things, Crocs, now have some chic comfy shoes. I love them! They are coming with me to Punta Cana and might be coming with me to Vegas when walking around during the day.

I tried to hold off. I wanted to wait until it came out in paperback but I couldn't resist. I have to read it now, I am having withdrawals. I picked up City of Fallen Angels and will read it as soon as I finish One Day. I am having lots of trouble reading it but I must get through it. Knowing that once I finish One Day, I can move on to Jace and Clary is enough motivation for me.

I hope you had a lovely weekend despite to gloomy weather. If you had sunshine all weekend, I'm jealous. Now it's time for me to get back to Survivor. I can't wait to see Grant and Matt with their short hair at the reunion.

movie review: fast five

This morning, Maureen and I went to an early show of Fast Five. I am a huge fan of all the Fast & Furious movies. I really like the third one, Tokyo Drift, even though all of the originals are not in the movie. I think it's because I like one scene in the movie, where Bow Wow and that random dude go into the parking garage before the random guy races TK. Tokyo Drift by the Teriyaki Boyz is playing in the background. Anyway, back to Fast Five, this movie was awesome!!! I wasn't really expecting much, I saw the trailer a couple of times but I didn't know much about what was going to happen. The storyline was of course about one last job and it brought back some of the originals from the first two movies. Tyrese and Ludacris brought some comical, cheesy lines, Vin Diesel and The "Rock" brought tons of fighting and Paul Walker and Jordana Brewster brought the lovey-dovey stuff. So as you can see, there's something in the movie for everyone. If this wrapped up the five movies, I'd be happy with the way they ended it but as usual, they left us with a little scene that could have us F&F fans wanting more. With all the action I just saw, I really want to watch the movie again but for now, I will just settle for watching the first four movies tonight or tomorrow.

 Best eye candy ever - Leeann and Reni, I know you love him as much as I do. There's something so sexy about those damn blue eyes and that voice.

Two gigantic meat heads going at it and throwing each other against walls, yes, please!

There was so much action with cars, guns, car chases, explosions, who would have thought that two girls would want to see this movie...but honestly, there's some serious eye candy and the action is an added bonus. I think Maureen and I were the only ones yelling in the theatre every time someone got thrown around, something exploded or when Tyrese made a joke.

movie review: something borrowed

For those who read the book by Emily Giffin, you were probably as anxious as I was to see it come to life on the big screen. I wasn't too thrilled about the casting because I am NOT a fan of Ginnifer Goodwin ever since her insecure role in He's Just Not That Into You (although I loved her in Ramona and Beezus).

Colin Egglesfield was perfect playing Dex,  Kate Hudson is always good at playing the "attention grabbing type" girl and John Krasinski provides some comic relief. It's been over six years since I have read the book and although I claim it to be one of my favorite books, it was hard for me to remember most of the details. Luckily, my friend Lyn who I went to watch it with, pointed out all the differences.

I thought the movie was just okay. I wasn't disappointed but I found it annoying watching Ginnifer Goodwin. I would recommend to wait until it comes out on DVD. Because I didn't think too much of the movie, I am going to re-read the book and Something Blue because this movie left a lead-in to the next book (Oh crap, did I just spoil it for some people?). I guess they did this in case the movie does well.

I am so thankful to Nikolett for organizing this project because it's a great way to meet bloggers from around the world.

April confessions

I just realized that I forgot to do a post at the end of April. Was I that busy? So better late than never...

I'm really addicted to young adult books. I use to call them teen novels but young adult sounds so much better. 

I got a break from social media when I was in Cuba. I think that break made me lose my groove in tweeting and blogging.

I'm seriously jealous of people with jet black hair.

The free trip I went on to Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba made me realize I don't like Cuba.

Peanut Butter Oreos make me happy.

Real World Las Vegas is interesting and very addicting.

I'm in love with pizza. I can't get enough of it.

happy mother's day (and a very funny baby photo)

First things first...it's nighttime so this greeting is late. I hope all you mothers out there had a wonderful day filled with lots of love, food and gifts. My mom doesn't live in the same city as me so I am very happy that my card reached her in San Jose before Mother's Day. Here is the last photo I have of me and my mom. It was taken on my last visit.

This was weekend was a lazy one but at least we were lazy at someone's house. We had a sleepover at DD Cottage. We were treated to yummy pasta made by JP - boy can this man cook. And for the first time ever, instead of immediately changing into our pajamas and entering a night full of movies, we went out of drinks at a hidden gem in their neighbourhood. JP paid for drinks and Mike and I were not okay with it so I shoved money into Lyn's purse. We got home at midnight and were pretty proud of ourselves for actually going out. We hung out and talked for the rest of the night and finally went to bed at 3 am. When we woke up on Saturday, we were again treated to a delicious breakfast by JP. This guy seriously spoils us. And then...we got lazy. We napped but then Lyn and I got our butts in gear and actually went out to watch Something Borrowed while the boys stayed home and watched Game of Thrones. I'll post my thoughts on the movie later this week. Later in the evening, we met up with some other friends for Pho. As we were leaving DD cottage, JP kindly helped me carry my purse to the car since we had so many bags to bring home. Later when we were almost home, JP called to inform us that he secretly tucked the money I shoved in Lyn's purse into mine. That sneaky devil!!!!

Now today, we went to Brampton to celebrate Mother's Day. It wasn't decorated all fancy like last year but this year, we had brunch. The list of things we ate is too long but let's just say it was better than going to eat at a buffet. Mike and I got to play with the kids and this time, little Blake actually wanted to play with us. I'm his godmother and usually, I am not even allowed to look at him or he will throw a fit and start crying but today, maybe because of a sugar rush or maybe a nap, we played airplane and shark attack for most of the afternoon. I also got to carry baby Hannah without her crying. Here are some pictures of the kids. I will save the best for last...

me & babies: yes or no?

While I was on vacation, I saw some adorable babies/toddlers hanging out by the pool. And for that mere second, my clock ticked..."holy cow, I think I want a baby" - I thought to myself. I actually craved to hold a baby of my own. And then some obnoxious tweens came running through the bushes and jumped into the pool screaming and yelling and out went the ticking of my clock. Babies are adorable but as children grow up, they become irritating and annoying and out of control (this is probably only based on their upbringing because I know some wonderful behaved kids). So, now I want kids but maybe I don't...

Now let's back track a couple of days when we were flying to Cuba. I settled into my seat on the place and flipped on my iPhone to a movie, Sex and the City 2. I have mentioned before that I am not a fan of the movie as a whole but I am abso-f*cking-lutely in love with Carrie and Big's apartment and the life they lead. So, now I don't want kids...

Now fast track again a couple of days where Mike and I are lying peaceful on the beach with no screaming kids. Mike passes me the current issue of the Details Magazine and asks me to read the The No-Baby Boom article. Very interesting I tell him. Points I got out of the article: kids are expensive, they take control of your life and there are a lot of couples out there who are choosing not have kids.  Really? Show me who those couples are because I only know of one couple (who just reached their 30s and decided not have have kids). So, now I don't want kids or maybe I do...

And then I see my BFF and her beautiful newborn daughter, B. She had a great pregnancy and maybe not the best labour but she is so thrilled and excited with her new addition to her family. She and her husband are truly happy. So, now I want kids...

I just find it funny how my mind goes on and off about babies. It's not that I don't want them, I know Mike and I are definitely ready but we tell ourselves, our time will come when it's suppose to happen and if it's not meant to happen, we will be okay with it. We will just have to adjust our life to mimic Carrie & Big's or we will move to a remote island and live the island life.

A girl from twitter who I knew from back in high school sent me the sweetest tweet and I thank her for it because even if I feel like I want a baby and it doesn't happen right away, her kind words will always be with me:

"I know your baby will choose you soon! xox"

my guilty pleasures this week v1

Normally list my guilty pleasures on the left side bar but I think I will start to post it up ever so often. At least this way, I can attach some photos to what I am lusting over.

Peanut Butter Oreos. If you haven't tried these, you have to get your hands on some. Do whatever it takes because these cookies are the bombdiggity! I am sure Maureen can vouch for me. Sadly, I have to savour the one box my mom sent me and wait until she arrives with a suitcase full of these goodness next month. Maybe I should check WalMart to see if they sell them...now imagine if they did??? I'm sorry, I've talked about these oreos non-stop but that's how good they are.

The Voice. I'm done with most singing reality shows especially American Idol. This show is unique because they aren't basing their team on looks, it's strictly because of their "voice". The second part of the blind auditions are tonight and I can't wait. Well, I can't wait to see more of Adam Levine.  Most of my friends are obsessed with this guy. We tweet and email like crazy about him.

Adele "21". Her album has been out for some time but I can't get enough of it. I'm glad I made Mike listen to it on vacation (I think he likes it). My favorite songs off the album are Rolling In the Deep, Turning Tables, Set Fire to The Rain, He Won't Go and Someone Like You.

Water for Elephants. The book was awesome and so was the movie. What I didn't like about the movie was it was lacking in character development and build up. The book described in detail the relationship between Jacob and the various people working in the circus. Robert Pattinson and Christoph Waltz are great and so is Rosie the elephant. If you want to watch the movie, I highly recommend reading the book beforehand. It's a quick read. Check out my husband's thoughts on the book and movie. I like that he's getting more into reading. This will make for interesting discussions if we both read books that turn into movies.

Yves Saint Laurent Volupté Sheer Candy. I believe this lipstick may only be offered at Sephora. I am going to check The Bay and Holt Renfrew just in case. Who knows if they even offer YSL at Canadian Sephora stores. If this lipstick is a combination of their Rouge Pur and Chanel Coco Rouge Shine, then Volupté Sheer Candy will become by ultimate lipstick for the summer! Some shades I think I would like - Succulent Pomegranate (sheer bright pink with red undertones), Luscious Cherry (sheer cherry red with golden undertones) and maybe Dewy Papaya (sheer fresh peach).

Now with all this talk about Adam Levine, Kat and I updated our freebie five list. Kat was kind enough to make design my list for me to look like hers. The question is, should we get it laminated or not?

Monday Memories: Mini Pops

Last Thursday when I was out with Kathy, Steph and Aileen, the Mini Pops was brought up and that's when I thought, I might as well use it for a Monday Memories post. Who didn't grow up with the Mini Pops. I am sure that all of you have their record album somewhere in storage. I know I do. It was my first album ever.

The 80s Mini Pops is the best compared to the crap like this that are out there now. I'm just laughing watching this. It's so embarrassing. No 'tween is going to want the current Mini Pop album when Glee is around.  The old Mini Pops did 70s songs and honestly that how I learned all the old school songs my parents grew up listening to.

Video Killed the Radio Star is my favorite song covered by the original Mini Pops. There's a bunch of other songs I liked from the album shown above but this is the one I like best.
