Recap of 2012

I wouldn't consider 2012 an eventful year, I didn't do anything extraordinary. The one thing I was proud of was flying solo across country to visit my mom in San Jose. I have always been scared of planes. I remember going to Cancun with a bunch of friends in 2000 and I was terrified of flying. I must have been the worst traveling companion because when I woke up from my gravol-induced nap, Mike was nowhere near me. He had switched seats with a friend of ours. Anyway, flying alone was a huge accomplishment for me.

I didn't travel as much this year. Two trips to San Jose to visit my mom in April and August. Annual June wedding anniversary vacation with Mike to Royal Hideaway Playacar which I consider to be the best resort we have ever been to. And then we capped the year off with a trip to Punta Cana (our 7th time) for our friend's wedding.

As I look back at some of the mini goals I made in the beginning of the year, I can confirm that I accomplished some of them. I got my craft on and got a sewing machine which lead me to become a Pinterest addict. I am no longer a shopaholic, I limit my spending and really thinking about purchases. I did though, become a huge fan of Etsy, especially Oia Jules shop. This lead to a severe arm candy addiction. To sum up my year, this was the year that I got in touch with my creative side. I searched and tried some DIY projects, I sewed a few little things and I discovered that sometimes it's better to support small independent shops.

As we approach the last day of 2012 tomorrow, I am looking forward to new beginnings and new changes. I want to no longer be afraid of what the future may hold and just take the leap to discover something new or just find myself.

I leave you with some photo collages of 1) my love for arm candy 2) nail art throughout the year 3) crafting and 4) my ombre hair - for years I didn't touch my hair and all in one summer I fried it with bleach. It was fun while it lasted.

What are some of your highlights from 2012?

Hello holidays!

Merry Christmas readers! I realized yesterday that I have not written a post in over two weeks, really since I left for Punta Cana. It was quite a busy week before I left for my vacation. With holiday parties, packing and finishing up work, I couldn't even think about blogging. I was too busy preparing for a long extended vacation from work. I am seriously off from December 14 and returning on January 2. I was lucky enough to spend the first week of my holiday in Punta Cana for my friend's (JP and Lyn) wedding at Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana. I hope to write up a review in the next couple of days for my travel blog and will provide the link if you are interested in reading about this resort. Let me just tell you that this resort is huge!!! We traveled with a large group of 35+ and it is impossible to find people. So, Mike and I made the decision to pick one specific pool to hang out at for the week so people would know where we were at all times and we used it as a meeting spot. I really liked the hotel but I think it's because I didn't research the crap out of it and I went in it with no expectations. Our friend's wedding was beautiful and I am glad that the rain held off for their outdoor reception by the pool.  A big congratulations to JP and Lyn!!! They finally tied the knot after 17 years of dating. It was a great vacation and it sucks to be back home since we got hit with a storm a couple days after our return and Mike is now sick.

Mike and I did most of our Christmas shopping before we left for vacation and my sister-in-law was kind enough to pick up the stuff I needed to make our contribution to the Christmas Eve dinner (we chose salad). As usual, it was nice to see the kids get all excited about opening their gifts and it was fun doing our KK exchange with the siblings. Steph got me this year and she always gets me the best presents (Gap leather clutch, MAC lipstick and a Clinique Chubby stick). I am now happy that Christmas has come and gone. Sadly, I still haven't seen my dad yet because he caught the flu on Christmas Day. I have a lot of anxiety and mixed emotions about Christmas and it seems like being in NYC last year was the one and only time I was truly happy during the holidays. Now I know that I need to be away for Christmas...next year, Paris?

I am pretty proud of myself for writing this blog post. I have been lazy since I got back from Punta Cana. I did not have any urge to sit at my laptop to do anything but today I transferred all my photos and documents to a external hard drive Mike gave me (I always get his hand-me-downs - sunglasses, tech stuff, earphones, etc) and after this, I am going to do a clean sweep of my Google reader. I took a quick glance and noticed how many blogs I have on my list that no longer blog. It's kinda sad but seriously, we can't blog forever right? I find that with Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram, there's no need  to blog anymore...it was all about the photos anyway...

Hopefully I will find the energy to write one or two more posts before the end of 2012. I want to recap some moments of 2012 and write some intentions and goals for 2013. Wherever you are, I hope you are enjoying your holidays!

What I received: Mug Swap

Some time ago, I joined a Mug Swap very last minute because my blogger friend wasn't paired up. The host put up a call on Twitter for someone to sign up last minute so Lin would have a swap partner. Since Lin is the most awesome person in the world, I didn't want her to end up pair-less. She gladly accepted my offer and we swapped.

Sadly I can't find the blog or link that hosted this swap. I am so sorry. Today I received my package today and I love everything that I got...

I really like how Lin sealed up my package with some decorative tape. She joked about not understanding why anyone would by decorative tape but seriously, it does brighten up the box. It's awesome how the tape matches my flat iron!

I got some great items in my package. She included some tea and coffee, along with chocolates and nail polish. What I loved the most is that she included a hand painted mug with my last name on it and a scarf that she made.

The scarf is so special to me because I know that Lin made it with the kindness of her heart and I know that she has been crocheting (or should I say crotching-inside joke between me and Lin) like crazy these past couple of days. I love the colour and the concept of the button to hold the scarf together.

Thank you so much Lin for all the goodies you sent. I knew that this was one swap I wouldn't be let down on. It arrived just before the Christmas holiday so it also feels like a Christmas gift for Lin. Now after this, I am seriously over swaps. I won't be joining in anymore for a while. Lin is a favorite blogger of mine and I am so happy that I was paired up with her. To see what I sent to her, check out her post.

My 36th birthday

As we get older, it seems like we don't want to have fancy parties or late night drinking binges (well for me anyway). I rather spend birthdays with close friends and family. This year, I celebrated dinner on Friday night with Mike, one of my brother's closest friends and his girlfriend. On Saturday - my actual birthday, I had breakfast with my BFF and then treated myself to a 90 minute massage. I also bought myself a pair of TOMS to wear on my upcoming trip to Punta Cana ( I opted for this instead of my usual expensive lipstick). In the evening, Mike treated me to a sushi dinner. Today, I went to my in-law's house to celebrate my birthday, along with my sister-in-law's birthday. Tomorrow evening I will be having dinner with my dad. It was a low-key birthday but I loved it.

I borrowed my niece Hannah since Mike and I don't have a kid

Yes, my mother-in-law thinks I am turning 4

Me and Hannah

Presents from my sisters, Steph and Dianne and from my blogging bestie, Elisse.
If you are wondering why there is no present from Mike, we no longer buy each other other birthday presents, he is though paying for my trip.

Another year bites the dust. I am seriously hoping good things come my way in 2013! Thank you to everyone for the birthday greetings. There were three greetings that really meant a lot to me - they were from friends who I had lost touch with. And to my mom who was a little upset that she wasn't the first to greet me, it's okay, time is not on your side since you live on the west coast.

OOAK show 2012 Haul

My very good friend Kat and I have a standing date, more like a tradition to go to the One of a Kind Christmas show every year. This year we bought our tickets early for only $7. We decided to go on opening day to avoid crowds and it was great thinking because it wasn't busy at all. We were there for about two hours with intentions of just stopping by the usual suspects (Froosh and Demo). We discovered some new vendors but also realized that a favorite of ours, Foxy Originals are no longer a vendor of the show (they have gone global!). I gave myself a budget of $50 and made a list - balsamic vinegar, hand lotion and candied apples. Here's what I ended up picking up at the show:

Samples really lure me to a booth and when the sample is so good, I need to buy. Instead of buying one bottle, I opted for the sample set. It includes Cilantro Sultra (lemon and coriander), Climaxxx (lime, garlic and cayenne), Gingerly Hot (ginger, garlic, scotch bonnets and vinegar), Sweet Surrender (mango) and Bareback Berries (cranberry and scotch bonnets).

I know that they are definitely new to the show and I hope to see them each year because their salad dressings are to die for. I purchased one bottle of the Cranberry honey toasted sesame salad dressing and my husband and I almost finished the bottle in a week. Luckily, my co-worker was kind enough to pick me up another bottle for me when she went to the show a few days ago.

Kat and I love their stuff. Last year I bought their body butter and scrub, and also their foot cream. It did wonders for my skin. Since one of the items I wanted to buy at the show was hand cream/lotion, I decided to pick up High Five. The downfall is that it only comes in a pump and I really wanted a tube of hand cream to keep in my purse. Not a problem - I am keeping this on my desk at work instead.

We were going to just walk by this booth but the smell coming from it was so delicious, I had to stop. There were so many scents that I love - lime, peppermint smoothie, coconut - but I went with maraschino cherry in the shea butter stick. This stick makes it so easy to apply the butter without getting my hands all greasy. I wish they had a bigger tube because I am more than halfway done.

We were almost out the door when we noticed Dot & Lil. We missed out the BBF event at BlushPretty Studio featuring this company on the Tuesday prior to the show. The lovely Anne was kind enough to give Kat and I one of the leftover swag bags from the event. What a great introduction to her products. I didn't have any money left to buy anything from her booth but I will make sure I do next time.

If you went to the show, what were some of your favorite booths?

Random Thursday: My Winter Survival Items

Winter, oh how I dread winter. Fall and Winter are not favorites in my book. Considering I was born up north, you would think that I am accustom to the cold and snow but no, I'm a summer girl 100%

To get me through the dark days and cold nights, I rely on the following:

good books and warm pjs
There is nothing better than staying in bed on a cold Saturday morning in some flannel pajamas and a good book that will keep you occupied until the mid-afternoon.

hand cream and body lotion (plus a body scrub)
Scaly skin in the winter is a big no-no. I get that no one will ever see your skin with the large amounts of layered clothing, but I'll still lather on the cream and lotion after a full body scrub down.

big chunky scarves and warm hat (aka toques)
I love big scarves and also toques that are big enough to hide my hair.

movies and old TV shows
When it's too cold to head outside, there's nothing better than watching movies and old shows like Friends on TV.

comfort food
mac and cheese, pizza and pierogies plus any type of soup with some warm buttered bread

mugs and mugs of tea
Tea is so comforting during the winter.

leopard snuggie
You heard me correctly, I have a snuggie and I am not ashamed of it.

Random Thursday: In My Hometown...

I usually tell people that I am from Toronto but I live actually in the 'burbs, west of Toronto. It's an up and coming city and I pretty much live in the centre of what they are calling, "downtown" Mississauga.

{via}
{via}
{my own photo taken last Friday}

My city is famous for the Marilyn Monroe building. It's actually our view, it's what we see when we look out or balcony. There's Square One, which I think is the biggest mall in Ontario, I could be wrong though. Right next to Square One is Mississauga Celebration Square where they hold tons of events in the summer like yoga in the park, concerts, festivals and even now food truck events. This weekend will be the unveiling of the new skating rink and the tree lighting ceremony. We have the greatest mayor ever, Hazel McCallion. She's 91 years old and still holding down the fort. She has been the mayor for 33 years and whatever she is doing, she's doing it right. If and when she steps down, that is when I will probably want to move out of Mississauga. Although there are lots of franchise restaurants, there are some great mom & pop places to eat and we are starting to get some of the downtown vibe restos coming to the west end. One of my favorite places to eat and drink is Ten Restaurant (see some of the food I ate there). The bonus is we are only 20 minutes away from Toronto and 60+ minutes from the US border.

Here's a great article on how Mississauga is catching up to 'world class' Toronto.

What I received...scarf swap

Last month I joined in the scarf swap hosted by Karen over at Celebrate Life. I was partnered up with Starlene and as worried as she was about my package arriving late, it actually arrived two days before the link up party. Seeing that I am so busy these days, I thought I should just blog about it now and with hopes I remember to link up on Friday.

I received a handmade scarf in a color that I love - wine/burgundy and earrings that I believe resemble donuts (my current obsession). Thanks Starlene for exchanging packages. I love that you made me a scarf. I hope the package that I sent to you arrives soon.

What I'm loving right now

{via}

I took yesterday off with original intentions of watching the last installment of the Twilight Saga but then I found out it was a PA Day (high school kids have the day off). After experiencing this last year -  the long line ups and screaming kids - I decided that I would still take the day off but not watch the movie. Instead, I treated myself to a 90 minute massage. Well, after that massage, I was itching to watch Breaking Dawn Part 2, so I walked over to the theatre and gave it a shot. No mass lineups but there were still the screaming kids. Since the first movie, I have taken the day off work to watch the movie and I really didn't want to break tradition so I watched it and I am so glad that I did. It was awesome. Totally not what I was expecting considering Part 1 was a dud. I can't believe the saga is over and has come to an end. The movie did give me closure and it was nice to see it come to an end the way that it did. I wasn't expecting it to be so funny and seat-gripping. When you watch it, let me know what you think without giving away any spoilers. If you are debating about watching, I strongly suggest you do. I even want to watch it again.

Do you ever get that obsession to collect certain things? Well, I wanted to collect all the eos sphere lip balms. Since we have a very limited selection in Toronto, my mom went on a goose hunt to get me all of the colours/flavours. She sent me the above photo to let me know she has completed my collection and will be mailing them to me. Isn't she awesome? I have only tried out the mint, lemon and watermelon so far, but I can't wait to try them all!

Don't you hate when you become addicted to a show only for it to get cancelled? It was like this for me for Melrose Place 2.0 and Lipstick Jungle. And now I can add Partners to the list. Only six episodes in and CBS has decided to cancel it. I don't know if this means it is cancelled as of now or if they will finish off the season. I absolutely love Michael Urie on the show, he carries it all but I am going to miss Sophia Bush. I loved her in One Tree Hill so I was happy when it was announced she would be on a new sitcom. Her style on the show is exactly how I would want to dress. I wish I could find more photos of her outfits but I had no luck. I did snap this photo below while I was watching this week's episode, which is probably the last :(

What are you loving as of lately?

Random Thursday: 5 Things I Use Everyday...

  1. iPhone - Who can live without their smartphone? I rely on it everyday as my cell phone, my music, for social media, camera, etc. I can't even imagine what it would be like if I forgot it at home one day.
  2. Shu Uemura eyelash curler - I stopped using mascara a year ago and all I do is curl my lashes. I always have to curl them before leaving the house. It just makes my eyes look alive even though I am dead tired.
  3. Papermate Flair pens - Best pens ever!!! If you like writing in a notebook or journal, these write so smoothly and come in many colours. I have the whole set and even made a roll up holder for them.
  4. J.R. Watkins Hand and Cuticle Salve - Nothing is worse than ragged cuticles. With winter approaching, it's good to always moisturize your hands, as well as your cuticles. I apply this salve before I go to bed and before I leave the house.
  5. Cole Haan Linley Barrel Bag - I just bought this bag over the weekend and I am in love with it. I really like that I can wear it as a crossbody bag or carry it by its top handle.

So, what are five things YOU use everyday?

It's okay...

...to find Christina Aguilera disgusting. At first I was disgusted by all the weight she had gained but then when I got over my superficial self, I realized she's disgusting because she dresses like an oversized tramp. Her chubbiness is hanging out all over the place. Sure, she has a great voice but she'd be more respected if she didn't dress like a hooker all the time.

...to no longer be upset about entering a giveaway and winning it but yet never receiving the prize. It's been close to two months and I haven't received anything except for emails indicating the package was sent and returned. She said she's mail it out again but I think she forgot...actually I'm kinda sad about it because I was looking forward to receiving my prize.

...to totally be dreading winter. I hate the cold and snow. I'm really envious of my mom moving to California.

...to not want healthy hair. It's also okay to miss long hair. I cut off over 8" off because my ombré hair was becoming overly dry. Now that it's gone and my hair is all super healthy, I can't stand it. It's flat, super straight and silky smooth. I don't like.

...to turn down a free concert cruise with Young the Giant because of crazy work schedules and difficult online registration. My hubs won a free booze cruise for two to see Young the Giant (plus Pitbull, Flo-Rida, Far Easy Movement, to name a few) in concert in the Bahamas. Crazy that we can't go huh? It's called being a responsible adult...oh well.

...to want to kick everyone in sight because you are just fed up. Maybe it's the time change, maybe it's the cold weather but this girl is just not happy. I'm so grateful that vacation is only 40 days away!

Random Thursday: Top 5 Must Read Blogs

It's really hard to pick five must read blogs. I read so many and they are really all my must-reads, otherwise, why else would I be following them. Please don't be offended if your blog is not listed on here. If I frequently comment on your blog, then you know that you are one of my favorite must-reads! Now I will break down my top 5 must reads blogs in 5 categories:

Food Blog | Food Junkie Chronicles
If you live in Toronto, this is the best resource tool if you need ideas or suggestions for a restaurant.

Fashion Blog | Wendy's Look Book
Impeccable style and grace. I envy her closet.

Lifestyle Blog | the little things we do
I thought that after Lauren had her baby, I would end up not following her blog (I'm not gonna lie) but it's the totally opposite. She has the most adorable baby in the world and I love watching Fern grow up. Also, Lauren's information on motherhood is so useful. If I ever have a baby, this is one blog that will help me through it all.

Beauty Blog | BlushPretty
This lovely lady is not only my BFF, she is also the guru of all things beauty.

All-around Blog | Life is Bananas
This was my must read blog. Notice how I said "was"?!?!? I recently found out that Mayra has closed up shop on blogging. Yes, it is indeed a sad day in the blogging world. She said, all good things must come to an end.

Of course, Linny's Vault is a favorite of mine, she is one of the hosts of Random Thursdays. Don't forget to follow her blog and if you want, join in on the Random Thursday fun.

Movie review: People like Us

{via}
Technically, I am not reviewing the movie, I'm more like telling you to watch it.

A few weekends ago, my hubby threw on a movie while I was starting to sew. I sat on the couch and totally got into the first couple of minutes. I had no intention of watching the whole thing since I had stuff to do and plus, I had no idea what the movie was about. I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel like it's better not to know anything about a movie or a book so you won't pass any judgment on it because you may not find it interesting. I read Hunger Games not knowing at all what it was about and loved it. With that said, I highly recommend watching People Like Us. It's a been a while since I have seen a feel-good movie and this movie totally hit the spot.

If you need something to watch, trust me on this one. Go into it blindly but if you want to read what's it's all about, check it out here. If you end up watching it, please comment and let me know what you think!

People from your past

Do you ever wonder what happened to people you 1) once dated? 2) hung out with for a couple of months? 3) worked with? 4) went to elementary or high school with? 5) disliked?

I wonder a lot what happened to certain individuals who played an instrumental part or just was a part of it at some point in my life, like ex-boyfriends, the guy I shared a locker with, the girls I used to pass notes to in class, the 20-something club I belonged to when I worked at an ad agency, friends and acquaintances I hung out with throughout the years.

I know Facebook and LinkedIn would probably reconnect me to many of these people but I am so hesitant to join in - I don't really know the reason why. So I connect with these people, then what? You  exchange a couple of messages about what you have been up to for the past several years, and then it comes to an end. Because in reality, there's a reason why you are no longer in each other's lives.

For example, a couple of years ago, I set up a small reunion for my grade 8 class with a girlfriend I re-connected with. It was great to see everyone because it had been over 20 years since I had seen some of them. We caught up with what's been going on in our lives and then what, nothing. I haven't spoken them since then. It was really nice to see how we have all grown and maybe it would great to see them in another 20 years. I guess that's what reunion are for - to see everywhere is at with no expectations of having to maintain friendships if you don't want to.

With social media, you can creep on people's lives through their status updates and photos but really, there's no connection. It's a superficial, social relationship. I don't know if I am okay with this, maybe it's why I am not on Facebook. I rather meet up with someone in person and catch up with them face to face.

So, I want to know, do you ever seek out and find people from your past? When you do find them, do you make an attempt to meet them in person or just follow them through social media? Do you rekindle your friendship? Or do you just leave people from your past in your past and just think about the relationship you had with them and leave it at that - as a memory?

sewing and donuts

(Read all the way to the bottom of my post because there's info about a great giveaway at my fellow blogger's blog)

This week at work was busy and for whatever reason, I came home late every night. It's either because I worked late, went to the gym or just ended up walking around aimlessly downtown. On my way home from work on Friday, I stopped in at the Creativ Festival since it was only $5 after 4:30 pm.  I walked around feeling overwhelmed at the amount of vendors and all the little old ladies scurrying around. I told myself that I will only look for fabric and maybe some yarn. I was only there for an hour and decided that I should go because I had already spent $40 on fabric. One thing that really caught my eye was quilting. A lovely lady at Mad about Patchwork was kind enough to give me a brief intro on quilting. And then it finally dawned on my what fat quarters are for!

When I got home, I immediately knew that I wanted to try to make decorative tea towels. It's super easy to make and definitely spruces up the kitchen. I can't wait to buy more tea towels and use the pretty fabric I bought at Creativ Festival. Look out, you might be getting one of these for Christmas!

Then, as I promised, I finally made a pen holder for Timona. She shares the same love that I have for Papermate Flair pens. She carries all of hers around with her, so it's better that she keeps it all in one place with this roll up.

As I mentioned last week, I decided to not do the cleanse at this time. It's a good thing that I postponed it because I found some delicious sweet potato english muffins. I baked some eggs in a muffin pan to eat with these bad boys. I need to go back to the Farmer's Market this Tuesday to buy more.

I have been following @doughtoronto for some time now and always salivate when I see photos of her donuts (and you know me, I am obsessed with them). My friend Marie was kind enough to bring me a couple to try. It was summer time so by the time I got home, most of the icing had melted. Well, on Thursday, I saw a tweet that a delivery of the donuts were dropped off at a little coffee shop on my way to work. I picked up double chocolate, apple fritter and brown butter. They were all good; the apple fritter is so unique tasting and the double chocolate is to die for!!! My husband normally is not a fan of donuts but he tried a piece and told me to back off!!! I can't wait for this Thursday to pick up more.

GIVEAWAY at PETITE PEAR STYLE:

My fellow blogger friend, Ellesy is doing a great giveaway...a digital camera. I met this lovely lady at a sewing event for bloggers early this year. She is super sweet and I am glad she took the subway halfway home with me because it was a chance to get to know her a little better. We keep in touch through social media and even though I haven't seen her in a while, I consider her a real life friend. Show her some love and check out the giveaway on her blog. You can enter here.

Hope you had a great weekend!!

Random Thursday: Blogger Pet Peeves

Music playing in the background
I love music, don't get me wrong but I might not love the same music as you. Music played in a blog sometimes scares me because I am not expecting it. I rather you provide a playlist on a player on your sidebar and if I need to listen to something while I am reading your blog, I will click on it.

I can't stand all the spam I am getting

Word Verification
I hate this because half the time I can't read the the stupid words but I'll still comment on a blog if they have this word verification. I am actually thinking of adding it because I can't deal with the Anonymous comments. Is it me or is everyone getting a sh*tload of them these days? Unless there is another way to avoid these, sorry readers, I am going to add word verification soon. Will you still comment if I do this?

When bloggers don't add their email to a comment
Nothing bothers me more when someone leaves a comment with a question or something I want to respond to but they have no email attached to their comment. Here's how to do it - How to Link your Email to your Blogger Profile. If I reply to a comment of yours, will you actually come back to check and read it? Because once I leave a comment on a blog, I never go back to check if the blogger responded to my comment.

What are some of your blogging pet peeves?

Sunday, September 30, 2012

hi there...

It's been 10 days since I have last blogged. I've been lazy and I don't have much to say. I wonder if other bloggers are going through the same thing. I notice that some of the frequent bloggers from years ago are posting less. Could it be that we are all blogged out?

I sometimes also feel that I am all tweeted out too. I have been on Twitter since 2008 and at first, I loved all the interaction I had with random people and companies but since I made it private to avoid certain people following me, I am slowly losing interest. I want to unlock it so badly but I don't want some people knowing what I am doing and what I am thinking.

Pinterest and Instagram are still on my hot list though!

So, if you are curious about what I am been up to, well here it is...
  • I finally upgraded my iPhone. I am a proud new owner of an iPhone 5. I know that it might not be a huge deal to some people but it is to me. I went from a 3Gs to a 5. I am in awe at how fast everything loads. I can take better photos, I have more GBs, the phone is light and thin, basically I am in love. I will post a photo once I find a perfect case. Any suggestions?
  • My mom bought me a super early birthday present (my birthday is in December) - a sewing machine. I have been toying with getting one ever since I came back from my visit with her and this weekend, I made two things: 1) it's a secret present for a friend who I doubt reads my blog but still I don't want to post a photo and 2) a little tiny dress - I made it and couldn't think of a little girl to send it to but it just dawned on me who I can send it to so I am mailing it out tomorrow.

  • I am suppose to start a cleanse today but I wasn't able to get groceries this weekend and this cleanse has a lot of ingredients I don't have readily available in my home. Did I ever mention that I get anxiety just from thinking of having to get groceries? I have a scheduled meeting on Thursday with the cleanse group and I am going to have to shyly tell them I am so behind. When I decided that I wasn't going to start today, I made these simple Apple Strudel Muffins.

  • A lot of Fall TV has started in the past two weeks and there is still more to come. Sons of Anarchy has been a shitstorm of greatness and we are only three episodes in. It took me two days to get over what happened in the last episode. I hope everyone has watched it by now but just in case, no spoilers here. Grey's Anatomy season premiere was just okay. I think I was expecting something else, not a flash forward. After watching Sons of Anarchy, Grey's was below par in greatness. Hopefully, they start to explain more about the plane crash in the next episode. With Glee, I am behind an episode because it's a conflict with Grey's. I am so happy with Kate Hudson in the cast and that new hottie, Brody. New Girl is of course hilarious. One show that I wasn't expecting much from but is quite interesting is Survivor. I am really rooting for Malcolm and Angie, I am such a sucker for people that hook up on the show. Tonight is Revenge and I am super excited for it, only an hour until it starts! Partners is a new show I checked out. It's just okay but I am happy to see Sophia Bush back on the screen. Up next are all the CW shows, Gossip Girl, 90120 and Vampire Diaries.
  • Asides from sewing, I have also picked up crocheting and knitting again. Last fall/winter, I didn't make anything because I was taking sewing classes but since my sister-in-law asked me to make a scarf for my niece, I might just make a couple of scarves before winter starts.
  • A lot of people have been asking what my hair looks like since I went on about cutting off over 8 inches. It sounds like a lot but trust me, I don't think there is much of a difference. Yes, it's shorter but I just figured out that I can still put it up in a sock bun, woot woot! So as you can see there is not much a difference except for the fact that the light ends are gone. By the way, I had my bangs up in the photo on the left because they were really long and not falling properly.

That's about it from me for now. With the long weekend approaching (yup, it's Thanksgiving weekend for us Canadians), please do me a favour and check out my mom's blog, she has a little contest going on and if you could be so kind to show her some love and enter, it would make my day. Check it out HERE. Just leave her a comment and let her know I sent you!

Hope you enjoyed your weekend!
