It's okay...

...to be complete obsessed with Kobe Bryant even though you don't watch basketball.

{via}

....to want a baby but yet be annoyed with bratty kids and think I may not quite ready yet.

...to not be able to shred as often as others and go at your own pace. By "shred" I mean Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. She's a mean one!

...to find joy in unfollowing the same people on Twitter with your BFF. We have discussions on who we should unfollow next.

...to be disappointed that Adam Levine got a buzz cut. He had beautiful hair - the kind you want to run your fingers through.

...to be pleased with how The Hunger Games turned out. I'm so crushing on Gale (Liam Hemsworth) right now.

{via}

...to have Live My Life by Far East Movement and Justin Bieber on constant rotation.

...to have the rapper name of Krispy Bakon because your coworker gave it to you. The reason she gave it to me is because I won't shut up about how good crispy bacon is.

...to still be playing Restaurant and Bakery Story on an iPhone while everyone else is playing Draw Something or Words with Friends.

Crispy Pitas

I was contacted by Pennant Media Group because they wanted to send me Ozery's Pita Break's new product, Crispy Pitas. I have tried their breakfast pitas (my mom swears by them) so I was quite anxious to try their new pita chips.

First, a little background. Ozery's Pita Break is a Toronto-based family owned bakery and sandwich that started in 1996. When they outgrew their storefront location, they expanded to a larger bakery in northern Toronto and their products are now also available in the United States. You can find them on Facebook or on Twitter @OzeryBakery.

The latest addition to their family of products is Crispy Pitas. They are a great compliment to a variety of dips like peanut butter, hummus or salsa.

There are four new flavours:
Cranberry Pumpkin Seed - filled with juicy cranberries and nutty pumpkin seeds
Rosemary Garlic - baked with fragrant rosemary and roasted garlic
Organic Spelt with Flax - packed with nutrition and dotted with nutty flax seeds, a good source of Omega-2 fatty acids
Organic Wheat - made with organic wheat flour and dusted lightly with sea salt

Each 170g bag is trans fat free and contains whole grains. It's a good source of fibre and has 6g of protein per serving. These pitas are a healthier alternative to potato chips. And you know how we all love munching on potato chips.

I am a huge fan of pita chips with hummus or warm spinach dip. So, after receiving all four flavours, I got my snack on. I started off with the Rosemary Garlic and dipped it into a Roasted Red Pepper dip. The rosemary and garlic is not very strong, it's very light and crisp. I don't really like rosemary so I was scared that I wouldn't like this flavour.

Today, I just opened the bag of Cranberry Pumpkin Seed. This was another flavour I was almost positive I wouldn't like but I was wrong. This is my favorite. The sweetness of the cranberry and the saltiness of the pumpkin seed is a great combination. You do not need to dip this into anything, it's perfectly fine to eat on its own. I feel like if you dipped it into something, you wouldn't be able to enjoy the flavours.

I have been eating the Organic Spelt with Flax at work. The dip I chose to eat it with - lemon and dill hummus. Seeing the flax in each pita chip makes me feel like I am eating healthy. Since there isn't much flavour, I would recommend eating this chip with a real flavourful dip, perhaps a spinach dip.

I have yet to try the Organic Wheat but I plan to eat it with some peanut butter.

I strongly suggest you visit Ozery's Pita Break to find out where their products are sold and I recommend you try my favorite flavour, Cranberry Pumpkin Seed. Thank you Amira for sending over these brand new Crispy Pitas to try. I will definitely buy them in the future.

The Sewing Studio VIP Blogger Event (and a giveaway)

This past Thursday, I was invited to attend a sewing night for bloggers at The Sewing Studio. You might remember back in the Fall, I took an introductory sewing class. There were four bloggers (including myself) on this particular night - @anne_greenwood, @petitepearstyle and @lisajtoronto, our instructor Christina and the lovely Stephanie (@blushpretty) who was tweeting photos of us sewing all night (check out #lovesewingforlife on Twitter). The project for the night, a business card holder made of denim and this really cool plastic material. A big thanks to Denise and Stephanie for the invitation to this fun event. I truly enjoyed myself. It was a great feeling to finish a sewing project in one night.

Don't forget to scroll down to the end for a giveaway!

Fill in the Blank Friday (colour edition)

Again, it's been a while since I completed Lauren's Fill in the Blank Friday. This one is an easy one and it has to do with colour. If you want to play along, don't forget to link up on Lauren's blog.

I am so thankful that it's Friday. In Toronto, we have had some great weather this week. It totally felt like summer. I worked all last weekend (like 15 hour days) so this week felt like it was never going to end. I don't have any concrete plans except that I will be getting my haircut, visiting my brother at the cemetary and hopefully watching the Hunger Games at some point. I have loads of laundry to do and a condo to clean. I also want to relax  because I have to work again next Saturday. The bonus about all this hard work? I'll be going to visit my mom in San Jose, California in two weeks.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and if you are going to watch the Hunger Games, enjoy!

1.  My favorite color is purple since black isn't technically a colour.

2.   My home decor color palette includes white, turquoise (like the ocean) and beige (like sand).

3.  Other people always tell me I look good in the color purple or cobalt blue.

4. The color I detest is pink, like baby pink.

5. If you were to look in my closet most of the colors you'd see would be black. I also have a lot of gray - yes, I am boring.

6. A color that I simply cannot pull off no matter how hard I try is brown. It's a bland colour anyway.

7.  The color of my favorite dress is coral. It's a great summer dress.

What is your favorite colour?

Favorite Things Swap

My dear friend over at Linny's Vault was itching to join a swap. When I told her that I didn't see any open swaps around the blogsphere, I suggested to her to just host her own. Lucky for all of us, she listened and created a Favorite Things Swap.

It's all very simple. Sign up and put together a package of your favorite things, only spending $15. How can you go wrong? We could all use a little surprise snail mail while we wait for Spring. If you are interested, sign up here before March 31. You can read about all the small details on her blog.

Do me and Lin a huge favor and sign up. She would be thrilled if you did.  I really want to make her day so sign up soon, who knows, maybe you might be my swap partner.

Anna tagged me and since she is such a sweet girl, I am going to answer her questions. Here's what I need to do (but I am skipping #4 and #5):

 The Rules:
1. Post these rules
2.  Post a photo of yourself & 11 random facts about you.
3.  Answer the questions given to you in the tagger's post.
4.  Create 11 new questions & tag people to answer them.
5.  Go to their blog/twitter & let them know they've been tagged!

11 Random Facts about me:

1. I am terrified of cats. It's a huge deal for me because I can't even watch commercials with cats in them. Even talking about them give sme nightmares.
2. When looking for a hotel to stay at, I will cross a hotel off my list if I see that it has a shower curtain. It creeps me out for some reason.
3. The Devil Wears Prada is a movie that is constantly playing in my home. We will put it on for background noise, we watch it when we are sick, bored or sad. It's probably my favorite movie and I can watch it over and over again.
4. I miss my brother like crazy.
5. I rub my feet together to either put myself to sleep or to soothe any pain I am feeling.
6. Up until last year, I have never had a Filet-o-Fish and I have never had a whopper from Burger King.

10. I've been at my job for almost eight years [too long].
11. I put myself on a clothing and makeup shopping ban since January. As for April 1st, I can go shopping again, good thing I am going to Cali on the 6th.

Here are the questions Anna asked me to answer:

1.  Least favorite subject in high school? Every subject. I was never the greatest student but if I had to pick, probably Science/Biology.
2.  Who was your childhood hero? Does Rainbow Brite count?
3.  What major US city could you see yourself living in? New York, San Francisco or Miami
4.  Biggest fear? Being locked in a room full of cats.
5.  If you could go back to college, what would you study? Fashion, Beauty or something creative.
6.  Have you ever wanted to learn another language? Which one? Yes. Spanish.
7.  Coca-Cola or Pepsi? Coca-Cola all the way.
8.  What is your favorite way to relax? Reading with a drink in my hand on a beach.
9.  Favorite current obsession? Kobe Bryant.
10.  Who is your favorite sporting team? umm...Lakers?
11.  How would you spend $10 million? I'd pay off my debt, travel to different beaches, and then when I find the perfect one, build a B&B and just live the island life. Or, I would buy a bigger home and just lounge around. Basically, I would do nothing but chill with my money until I find something to do that I absolutely love.

Swap with Kaileen Elise

I'm not sure how we decided to do a little swap but I think it started with a Twitter conversation with @KaileenElise. I must have tweeted that I was jealous of her getting stuff from Trader Joe's, which we don't have here in Canada. We agreed to swap some goodies, I would send her some Canadian products and she would send me some things from Trader Joe's. I should have taken a photo of what I sent to her but I included some chocolates that are not available in the States (Coffee Crisp, Wunderbar and Skor), a ring from Foxy Originals, hand cream from Consonant Body, beauty products from Joe and some other things that I can't remember.

Here is what she sent me:

Kaileen sent me some pumpkin butter, Chai Latte mix, Cinnamon Sugar grinder, milk chocolate caramels and dark chocolate covered pomegranate seeds. All of this I have never had before and I can't wait to try them out.  Thank you Kaileen for doing this swap with me. It was fun and I truly appreciate you taking the time to buy and send me these Trader Joe goodies!

Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred: Day 1

I have read about Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred from many bloggers and even tweeters. I wanted to give it a try so I bought the DVD. Once I received it, I, of course, did a run through and thought to myself that I might not just make it through the entire workout.

So it sat by my laptop for months. Then enter in my friend, Kat. She tweeted that she was going to do the #30DayShred and wanted to see if anyone wanted to join her. A couple of us accepted her challenge.

And then I got sick...

Here I am, a week behind starting to shred. Last night, I threw in the DVD and prepared myself for some torture. Coming off of the flu, I decided to take it easy. I was almost convinced I was either going to a) throw up or b) pass out. Neither happened but I did start to get a side cramp while doing the cardio portion of circuit 1 - damn jumping jacks!

I pushed my way through the entire workout and was spent. This was at 9:00 pm and once I finished, I was ready for bed. The workout is quite simple but for someone who hasn't worked out in months, it was a challenge. The exercises are basic and it's only a total of 30 minutes of your time. I hope I can continue to do this shred, with some break days of course.

It's awesome to have some friends doing it with you, they may not be physically present doing the workout but it's nice to get the encouragement and support from them via Twitter.

Are you doing the shred or have you done this 30 Day challenge? Did you see results?

Password Reminder Book

For a couple of months, I wanted to make a password reminder book. I didn't want to spend money to buy an actual book. I got as far as to designing a template but needed to print and bind it.

Well, this morning I went in to Chapters to look for a 2012 agenda (they aren't selling them anymore) but instead found a Bob's Your Uncle password reminder book. It was regularly $16.50 but it had a 50% off sticker. When the cashier rang it up, it came out to $4.13. BONUS!!! At this price, it makes it so much more worth it to buy it instead of making it.

What do you use to remember all of your passwords?

Rogue Theory

When I got my Kobo Touch last June, I got a cover for it that would mimic a book since I was convinced I would be uncomfortable holding an e-reader. A few months later, I decided I just wanted a sleeve to protect it. Rogue Theory on Etsy had to be the most natural choice but as I procrastinated about purchasing a TECHEE sleeve, I missed the deadline to order before the Christmas holidays. I sent the shop a few questions but they never got back to me. I was livid. I couldn't understand why a shop wouldn't return questions (it might have to do with the fact that they were closed for the holidays). In early January, my friend tried to contact them again with no luck. We decided to ban them.

Well, last month, I was fixated on buying a receipt holder and after much researching, Rogue Theory came up as the #1 shop with the best price and fabric choices for this receipt holder I was getting obsessed with owning. I tried to ask the shop owner a question about a custom order and what happens next...an response within five minutes!!! My heart melted and my ban lifted. The shop owner was super sweet and was excited about doing a custom order for the receipt holder. How could I resist? So I ordered the holder and a TECHEE sleeve for my Kobo. In two weeks, my order arrived and I couldn't be happier. How dare I ban them and attempt to put a curse on them. Check out my purchases...

If you are interested in buying a sleeve for your e-reader, iPad, iPhone, or a receipt holder like mine, be sure to check out Rogue Theory's shop.

I'll get right back on it...

Has it really been a week since I last blogged?

Not that I need to give you some excuses but it has been crazy busy at work and I just got over having the flu for four days. I had a fever that made me go delirious, having mad thoughts, not knowing what is real and what is not. It was not fun. And now, I have to prepare to go to Ottawa for work next week. In the next couple of weeks I hope to bring you some posts on:
  • An exciting sewing event I was invited to at The Sewing Studio
  • Some of my purchases from the Etsy shop. Rogue Theory
  • The start of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred with a few of my blogger friends (I have yet to start and am behind because of my flu)
  • My upcoming outing to the Spring One of a Kind show with Kat
  • My upcoming trip to San Jose with Mike to visit my mom
  • A follow up to see how I am doing on my 2012 Mini Goals

So there you have it, a promise that I will blog more. I think writing down the posts I plan to write gives me the inspiration that I do have some content. I just have to sit down and find the time to write. Thanks readers for bearing with my non-blogging moments, I'm glad you have stuck around. What have you been up to?
